How many tracks were built with the transformers SFX
I've never seen transformers until today. Never took an interest. The movie was poor but the sound design was mind blowing.
I kept hearing samples that I've heard in dubstep tracks. I am sure I've heard samples used as basslines from that film.
Am I right in thinking transformers go sampled heavily and used a lot in Dubstep?
Edit: After reading some of the posts in this topic I attempted to create a transformer type bassline. Although the sample in the short loop sounds like I've probably ripped a sample from the movie, I didn't.
I sampled a nice sounding bassline form the access virus. Then put it into Kontakt. I used the granular option in Kontakt, and made use of formant, pitch, and sample speed using the iPad for automation. Theres also lots of effects and it was bounced/resampled about 15 times.
Soundcloud
(the beat is there for examples sake only).
I think the key to transformers type sounds is using grains to playback samples.
The difficult part, for me at least, is adding bottom end to a complex sounding sample. I might start a new topic on that.

No datsik got sampled and then used as the transformers SFX! j/p
Id would agree that ive hear straight transformer samples in dubstep tracks and im sure some one has used them as baslsines. Hell ive heard sampled zombie moans from a bunch of zombie flicks used as part of dubstep bassline lol
Recipe for transformer banger:
Sample 8-10 transformer noises... load them into a drum rack... bang out a bassline like skrillex (use some ptich bend to help liven up the bassline + bitrushers and shit)... sample a megan fox vocal from the movies and use it over the drop.... sample optimus prime sample and place it over the ambient breakdown section allowing it to create deep introspective vibes before the second bassdrop... BAM! instant transformer BANGER!!!!!!

I agree, the sound design is awesome. Probably made using resampling and granularising.

that sounds like a great idea for a tune Blinx. Wouldn't mind sampling Megan Fox either!

Apparently there is an hour long video floating somewhere about the sound design on transformers. I can't seem to find it. I seen it mentioned on GearSlutz but no link was posted.
