Best of luck to ya mate. I'll be in line to listen to it when you finish it up. Keep us posted on your progress, or if you just need a pick me up when it feels rough

I'm working with a couple of concepts, ideas...
In reality its going to be quite moody and evolving because that is my sound but i'm playing with the idea of transport, movement, starting from A and moving to B. The idea is bringing lots of ideas how I want the album to sound and progress so...
Cheers for the kind words everyone!

Good luck mate, im working on my first ever EP with a friend of mine so I'm just starting a journey you've already progressed so far along, definitely looking forward to the whole concept driven idea too. With my EP its more just a showcase of my versatility as a producer, havent really thought about trying to give it a theme.

i'm on the same en devour myself atm man, cept with an odd model to it
copy and pasted from my fb, the idea behind it
"so how's this for a unique music release thought... with my EP i'm doing for Cosmology release it as a part 1 of 2 of a full length LP under the pay what you want model, be it free or not. then include it with the other half on a limited run cd, for a reasonable price with maybe some bonus tunes and a couple months ahead of popping part 2 up under the same pay as you want model as part 1"

Re: Just thought i'd announce....
Starting to put together an EP with a new project, just getting 5 consistent (enough) songs together is daunting. My nonexistent hat is off 2 u.

what i've found to work is doing it all as one large project file, like one continuous tune, but making it so they work as separate tracks as wellnowaysj wrote:Starting to put together an EP with a new project, just getting 5 consistent (enough) songs together is daunting. then again i dropped a nice chunk into it for purely audio purposes
Re: Just thought i'd announce....
Just mixing 8 stereo stems and a mastering chain brought my 4gig ram / 4 core intel machine to its knees.

Re: Just thought i'd announce....
I think it's always great when artists in edm decide to do an album of cohesive material rather than just a collection of songs. it's obviously a bit harder to achieve in edm because your primary audience is usually used to dealing with small releases.
good luck!

Re: Just thought i'd announce....
I do wish you luck, as I said on facebook, youve got your own vibe going and youll find yourself benefiting from your DJ-mindset as well, I was legitimately surprised you hadnt written some sort of indie LP yet... Its a good thing. Keep us posted though man.legend4ry wrote:After almost a year of battling with the idea.. I've finally decided to start writing an LP.
Already got about 5-6 rough drafts of tracks which will be perfect for it but as some of you might know - i'm quite a conceptional writer and only release EPs which all have some underlined meaning, idea, concept or flow - its time for me to take that from 3-6 tracks to write a 8-12 track album.
A daunting but interesting task!
Wish me luck!
I have! Ive done up a few LP's of my tape/abstract stuff, nib-nose around the sig if anyones interested... Writing gapless is an eye opener... It really taught me the importance of haivng cohesive mixes and textures, but also taught myself how to keep things interesting as well.*EDIT FOR CHAD*
So whos wrote an album or tried too?
Recommend having some sort of vibe of your own to anyone else considering writing an LP, its one thing to write dubstep bangers, its another thing to consistently deliver a signature breed of art.

Re: Just thought i'd announce....
Hope all goes well, good sir -- I'm rather interested in the finished work.
Personally, I enjoy using my prolificness as a selling point. Well, if I sold stuff. 10 free albums and counting, and I'm happy with each and every one of them. (Except Catharsis, but that was cathartic, so eh.) It's fun to put a concept to music and work towards something solid. It's a great feeling, and so I can't wait for you to experience it.

Re: Just thought i'd announce....
I actually started to write an album a month back. So far i have an ambient bit, a balaniese gamalan inspired hiphop track, and a deep dubstep one... 7 or so more to go!

						Re: Just thought i'd announce....
Got the opening track done to about 80% got me in a good mindset for how I want to take the rest of the LP.
Decided on using 2 tracks what are already made for it, so its shaping up nice already!
Giving myself around a year to write it so not taking it to fast!
