Re: Explosion in Oslo // Utoya, Norway Shooting
How a human being can grow to be such an uncaring shell to pump rounds into dozens upon dozens of children... I will never understand. I don't think you can classify people like him as human beings. Curious to how the punishment will turn out, seeing as norway doesn't have a death penalty and the max sentence is 20 years or so.
Re: Explosion in Oslo // Utoya, Norway Shooting
Why do you guys give a shit about what is in his manifesto? Are you implying anything that this fuckin guy says is worth reading?

Re: Explosion in Oslo // Utoya, Norway Shooting
I'm not sure but the local newspaper said that this man himself claimed twice as many lives per capita for Norway compared to how many Americans per capita was killed by Al Qaida on 9/11. That means that the amount of people killed will make a double as big difference in the countrys population. Hope I got that right..
I heard one of the reasons he did this was because the ruling party in Norway, the Marxist Socialistic party call AP had a "bad" view on immigration and on how they handle their immigrants. So I guess this act of terror was made to affect the immigrants of Norway, by terrorizing those who support them the most. Disgusting.
He had been planning this for 9 years and he even made trips to Hungary to get ammunition and weapons. He studied and trained for this action. How fucked up can one be? I saw in the papers that if he could have 21 years in prison to come, what the fuck is up with that?! He deserves atleast his fucking lifetime in a prison cell as big as a 50 inch cube. Or atleast let everyone who in some way is affected by his acts, slap him like 5 times.
I hope he has a terible faith to await.
May all the killed rest in peace. Norwegians, you know we Swedes loves and supports you as if you were our own brothers.

Same reason I read Mein Kampf even though I don't share Hitler's views, I guess.

It's interesting and I'm glad I read it, but I wouldn't say it's a good read.
I went through a stage of reading 'controversial' books when I was younger, stuff like Mein Kampf, Satanic Verses etc etc. Wouldn't say any of them were good, and I'll probably never read them again, but glad I read them, you know?
Re: Explosion in Oslo // Utoya, Norway Shooting
didn't really mean that as a Good read type thing, but i get what your saying. I just like to get inside other peoples views. If i can ever get it back ill have to give it a shot.wub wrote:oprs wrote:i lent that to someone, is it a good read? i meant to but i never got too it.wub wrote:borrowed wrote:Why do you guys give a shit about what is in his manifesto?

That 21 years thing is some straight up bullshit, if true. There's no rehabilitation for someone who does something like that.

Re: Explosion in Oslo // Utoya, Norway Shooting
Typically, I'm one of the people that always calls for the death penalty when something like this happens, but considering just how fucked up this dude is (I mean, he seriously thinks of the massacre as a "marketing" ploy for that manifesto of his - think about that for a second), I think the best punishment would be to not give him the precious media attention and shit that he wants. Did you read about how he wants to "explain" his massacre to the world? He seems to genuinely believe that people will get behind his message despite his actions. I think he should get a life sentence in solitary confinement or something, it would likely be torturous for him.

lol i went through the same thing when i was 13/14... i thought i was so edgy.wub wrote:oprs wrote:i lent that to someone, is it a good read? i meant to but i never got too it.wub wrote:borrowed wrote:Why do you guys give a shit about what is in his manifesto?

this. he should be kept on his own, no human contact.svpreme wrote: I think he should get a life sentence in solitary confinement or something, it would likely be torturous for him.
feed him and keep him watered. just no communication, i think killing people is a step too far,(eye for an eye will leave the world blind) but he certainly doesn't deserve to communicate with actual human beings.

Re: Explosion in Oslo // Utoya, Norway Shooting
letting him rot in jail is hands down the best solution. killing him will make him a martyr for the few that pick up on or share his ludicrous beliefs. i know that if i were in his position, i'd rather be executed and go to heaven (which he no doubt believes he will) than to spend the rest of my life in a cell. and i can't imagine him being treated too well either since he's the architect of one of the worst tragedies to happen to Norway in a very long time.svpreme wrote:Typically, I'm one of the people that always calls for the death penalty when something like this happens, but considering just how fucked up this dude is (I mean, he seriously thinks of the massacre as a "marketing" ploy for that manifesto of his - think about that for a second), I think the best punishment would be to not give him the precious media attention and shit that he wants. do you guys think he acted alone? i don't...
guy was also apparently a big WoW player.. apparently some of the media in Norway has already started attacking gaming because of that...
i wouldn't worry about that too much, they'll probably get him for multiple counts and/or multiple crimes. there's no way that the norwegian people, justice system, or government are gonna let this guy get off with anything less than a life sentence.Fused Productions wrote:Well those are the laws in Norway.svpreme wrote:That 21 years thing is some straight up bullshit, if true. Re: Explosion in Oslo // Utoya, Norway Shooting
Did anyone watch BBC news 24 last night? They spoke extensively to a survivor and his story was horrible, actually felt my stomach churn. He only survived as he used the dead bodies by the beach as something of a camouflage. He stayed there for about half an hour, the gunman came back to him and shot him in the shoulder. He only survived because he said it didn't hurt. If he reacted, the gunman would have shot him again and killed him for sure.
I'm missing loads of detail but I'm sure you could find the interview on the BBC news site. He is extremely calm when describing it which makes it all the more terrifying, like he doesn't know how to feel about the whole thing.
I can't even imagine that kind of shit.

Re: Explosion in Oslo // Utoya, Norway Shooting
I don't know enough about the actual specifics of the attack to have an informed opinion about that, but didn't he make reference to being part of a new Order of the Knights Templar or some shit? I hope it isn't the start of a series of attacks by them or something.Phigure wrote: do you guys think he acted alone? i don't...
Even if other people didn't actually help out, I'm sure there were people who knew about it beforehand and likely provided support in some way, even if it wasn't by necessarily physically being there to help.
Re: Explosion in Oslo // Utoya, Norway Shooting
The Norwegian people and government seem to be responding admirably though.
"If one man can show this much hate, think how much love we can show together"
"Tomorrow we will show the world that Norway's democracy grows stronger when it is challenged … and that the answer to violence is even more democracy, even more humanity, but never naïveté."
Hopefully Norway reacts the opposite way that the US did. The US behaved exactly how they shouldn't have. Their fear of terrorism caused the people to allow their government to suspend some of their most basic rights and liberties. 9/11 polarized the country intensely, and then got the US involved in two absolutely catastrophic wars that have brought the country to economic and political crisis.
also, here's a bone chilling first hand account:

Re: Explosion in Oslo // Utoya, Norway Shooting
Surely they will have the bombing and the shooting as seperate charges so at a minimum they will be able to give him 42 years?
I really just hope certain people dont see him as some sort of god and read his ''manifesto'' and try and continue his ''work''. I'm really glad certain newspaper and television channels have got the current news in the correct order though. As sad as Amy Winehouse's death may be, this is definitley a more news worthy story.
