Is Dubstep finding its sound now???
i often think about that kind of stuff. because i find dubstep so exciting and thrilling, that it would be sad if you could pin it down to what this thread is about.... but threads like these show that alot of people are insecure about the future of dubstep. but it has been said here (with good reason) that you just can't compare Mala to Burial to Milanese to Bass Clef. there are ALOT of things going on, AND IT NEEDS TO STAY THAT WAY. as long as there is enough bass to kill a horse and the rythms and sonic textures are unique and interesting, count me in.
sorry, block of text.
but yeah, this kind of discussion has been held in these forums WAAAAY too often. just enjoy it and yeah. dubstep is fresh and needs to stay that way. stop pigeon-holing it!

time for my rant... it really annoys me when people talk about dubstep being immature. what do they mean? do they mean that production wise dubstep producers are inferior vis a vis other forms of electronic music. i wouldnt agree with that. or are they talking about infrastructure - promotion, distribution and stuff? id like to think so but i have the feeling that most of the time whats meant by immaturity is the lack of homogenisation that you see in most other scenes.

the internet isn't going to kill the scene.
the roots of this music are nearly a decade old now, so "finding it's sound" only relates to when you heard about the music first. the sound is evolving in massive ways. there are thousands of people that are hearing the music and vibing on the forum with very fresh ears, so threads like this are obviously going to be more prevalent.
never judge a scene by a net forum.

Oh for the love of God.
I really wish people would stop jabbering on about 'the music', 'the scene' and what is 'wrong' with both of the above. It is tiresome, boring and in no way helps things. It is also entirely unnecessary.
Feeling angsty/disgruntled? Make some music, put a night on or look harder for music that excites you.
Rant over.

whatever it sounds, with heavy blines and sick low ends or into a more deep field, its dubstep, it has a structure as every genres actually but it depends on the artists inspiration.
Dubstep is going strong but it wont die, just think about dub, it will be an exciting music genre with an unique status, 2100 will be playing sick dubstep trax.

Suddenly, there was a terrible roar all around us, and the sky was full with what looked like huge bats, all swooping and screeching and diving around the car, and a voice was screaming:
Holy Jesus. What are these goddamn animals?
