Soundcloud

my first crack at a dnb tune.
This is only about 2 hours of work, so it is still very rough.
Just want to get some feedback on the mixdown. I am trying to do it as I go instead of at the end.
Thank you!

back up in this thread :)

@blinkesko your drums sound a bit weak, maybe EQ them out or layer to make it sound fuller. Your bass sound is great! Like you said you do really need subbass but your bass and bassline are nice, maybe throw a little variation with synth and the beat to make it alot stronger. Nice wip!

@LucasKane This shit blew me away! Dubstep tuuuune right there. Great variation, fat fucking bass nice use of effects, reverb, and variation. Definitely something on the dark bassey side, blew my sub up on dat one :) Variation was ace man. Nice use of the sample before and after the drop and the variation on that also. With my own WIP i struggled putting in a sample but couldnt figure out how to make it sound good. Yours sounded right good job again man.

@blakedipp I didnt really look but your really supposed to review other peoples stuff before posting your own. Anyways it doesnt sound bad for being a beginner as you say. The drums sound like they need to be alot fuller could use some reverb uni and EQ. Your actual bass sounds arnt bad, maybe just switch it up a bit, take out the kicks, snares, anything. variation is the key but good work so far for 2 hours only.

This is my 3rd WIP for this thread and i think its definitely my best work so far.

@crakasteven - thanks for the feedback. I am really into that tune you just posted. The bass is heavy and sounds very crisp. I like your drum samples a lot. It all flows really well. Good work!

Haha I don't know what to say but thanks, I've had a few beers and I got a right big grin on my face reading the feedback I'm getting. massive big ups! (Gonna stick it on download if anyone wants it)

Your WIP sounds like it is going to turn into a right filthy number the mid bass is evil sounds proper futuristic and dark. I think if you get a proper nasty low sub behind it it will deffo do some damage!, I like the drums and the hats the snare could do with being a bit harder or maybe layer it with a tom to fill it out but besides that so far I am liking it!

@crakasteven
Beef up the sub and drums, and you got a nasty DnB tune!

@LucasKane
Def a great tune. I'd love to hear some drum breaks and pauses. Can't wait to hear the finished.

Here's a quicker dubstep/electronic jam. Made this one for vocals over it, and to go for a cleaner modulation. I'll change it for a solo tune soon.

@ crakasteven - This track is near perfection, had my face scrunching up like a bulldogs face. I would only say to turn down the eerie synth sound when its playing at the same time as the bassline to avoid overlapping because that bass needs room for full effect. Also i wud add in some short fx like a zap or delayed snare rim shot everytime the track changes slighty just to give it a more distinct structure. Other than that this tune is amazing and wouldnt mind a 320 when its finished to drop into a mix!

@ Jetpack - nice atmosphere i can really imagine some vocals over the top it would be epic. You have a nice sub half way through, you just need to get a nice sub underneath the gritty main basslines. May i suggest duplicating the grittyness then on the duplication just take out all the highs and mids so your just left with the low end and play around with it so it sounds more subby...if that makes any sense. Epic tune though man would like to hear it with vocals!

@JLproductions-chill but still has a great punch, love the bass that comes in at the drop. The overall feel is definitely my style diggin this track.

@jetpack- feeling the drum work love that pick up of speed at about 1:10 being a new producer not much i see that needs work but good work.

Below is my first track ive started working on, im brand new to the game and would appreciate any feedback as well as any tips on where to go with the drop

@Ruckr It sounds good. The sub is a bit loud. Also, the hats seem a bit robotic. Maybe try moving them a tad off the grid to give it more of a realistic shuffle? Just something to keep in mind.

@JLproductions
Had me moving. Trippy stuff there. I like the additions for each verse.

@Ruckr
Huge drop waiting there! I could see a real droidstep (what I call it) tune. Industrial, factory type shit. Keep me posted where it goes.

@ blakedip - I like it man! Good job do with it what you want, let your heart guide your love for music hahah
@ jetpack - I like, its very mellow keep it up!

Please before you call this brostep or whatever haha, please understand that I signed a mutual contract with two robots to record their beautiful voices for this. Cmon now Robots have souls too! And also I can listen to any sound all day long, no ifs ands nor buts, and plus I enjoy a nice rape of bass..I know this sounds like megatron jacking off for the first time LOL hahaha thats why i named it Robots on cocaine, robots just destroying stuff, two robots to be exact all loud n roudy hahahahahah Of course its not even close to done, I just made that new bass which sounds SOO much better than the last

To be exact, I am going to be defining the sounds more so they are more crisp and clean rather than splotchy, adding and subtracting sounds as i see fit if something doesn't really go too well with it. I am listening from a single bose speaker that has a sub in it already but its nothing compared to real good speakers where i can hear every sound and perfect it that way! So if it just sounds way too packed in there, don't worry it wont stay that way, I just like it intense, its just my style, like id make it gnarlier than it already is but I'd really have to know what I am doing better to make more crisp clean sounds! :D

Once finalized there will be downloads of it and it will sound much better much much better

I love that mechanical robotic bass haha i enjoy just playing around with it normally lol :U:

Im gonna tone it all down in general so its not too gnarly space some sounds out make it my own personal painting of sound :D

Edit- I made it sound slightly better, I am getting more satisfied towards this track :D

I think the bassline itself is very well done (Don't know how long you have been doing this) but I got quite dissapointed by the synth dropping in while the bassline was playing. It is unharmonic and takes away the focus imo.
You could aim for a more clear drop since it's quite sudden when it drops.

Generaly i am not a fan of too heavy detuning :>
Finally a collab with Mindloader!
