Thanks again for any feedback and pointers. I'll try and add some more melodic elements to the second tune, to bring it all together. Thanks for that heads up! :)
DubMikey wrote:@Zerbaman Really diggin' this track! Love the drums and the bass! How did you make that bass?
For the second tune
I use 3xOsc, keeping all the oscillators on the same octave, I just switch one to saw/square/roundsaw/triangle. Gives it warmth and texture. The dynamics were achieved by enveloping. And I used a little overdrive distortion, EQ and compression too.
Do you say zerbaman? Or do you say zebraman?

@BudSpencertron- Not to much my style, But I do like the medley, kinda reminds me of an old game boy game called Golden sun.

@DubMikey - I'm stuck on these video game references!!! Your's reminds me of 007 Golden eye on N64 lol But damn I love it evil sounding and a good transition to the wob. Try compressing your synth to bring out the lfo more. But keep it up!

@Andywounds - OoOoOOoh I like it. Only thing is it bounces a lil to much, maybe stretch out that sound more??? EQ the percussion n kick n you're gold!!! :corndance:

I always loved the tune for the Viridian Forest in the original Poke'mon games. I looked around and no one really took advantage of it so im giving it my shot. Its just the intro clip but you get an idea of the main synth in it. Any feedback is wanted thank you!!!! :mrgreen:

thanks

also, im still tryin to listen to other tracks but honestly theres really something wrong with my internet, i really like this forum i dont want to rock the boat

Citrik- Melodies in the intro are fucking fun, loved those games because of them, needs more atmosphere and the bass should be the focus of the mix when it comes in.

Crevil- intro is neat, hats are a little sharp, everything sounds pretty alright so far though. Fun sound effects, I think the sub could stand to be deeper and the wobble could stand to be louder in front of everything, good techniques, things get a little muddy from time to time. Keep at it man.

Zerbaman- liking it from the start, awesome drums, love that synth too, oh this is good man, awesome drums great work, I feel like the sub could be more solid, everything is awesome though honestly again I love those synth patches and sounds later in the track, great work, woul love a 320 when it's done.

This isn't dubstep but I like it, not sure about it at all though, general feedback is cool.:::

@Kes-Es
It's good for one or two listens. Nice bouncy rhythm. That constant paddish synth is very hypnotic, I really like it. I also like the percussion sounds, they give it a real old-school vibe. Honestly though I'm not too keen on how the arrangement turns out, I think it needs something a bit more to keep interest. That's all I can say really, it's only a short track.

@TheOtherDrug
This is what it's all about my friend. Poke-fucking-mon. Like you say it's only the intro so not much to really go on. I'm not too big on the drums in the first 40 seconds or so, they don't really add anything. Just seem to plod along, if anything I reckon they're a bit detrimental to the chippyness (which I really like btw). I'm going to keep an eye on this one, I want to hear the finished version.

@DubMikey
Good start, but for me needs more variation in basically all aspects of the track; melody (there's something strange about the notes played, it makes me feel uncomfortable), rhythm (constant drum loop) and sounds (string/bass/synth/drums all get a bit much). It's a quite capable, basic track which could be good with work.

@Andywounds
Not too big on the intro. Nice transition, what I like about the first drop is how it stop/starts, that works really well with those eerie swirling sounds in the background. I'm listening on shitty headphones so I can't really tell but the midbass sounds a bit abrasive.

@Zerbaman
Very laid back. Loungestep? Lol. Maybe it's just the headphones (probably is) but some of the sounds (just drums really) don't seem to gel well. Hats seem a bit harsh, kick and snare's a bit clunky; I dunno, maybe it's personal taste but for this kind of track I'd say shorter, snappier harder drum sounds work best.

@Laktic
Brief but nice, the atmosphere/pad a bit overwhelming though. Too short!

Here's a track I'm working on, it says final mix but it's not really. Planning on giving it one final look-over (though it'll probably end up being a couple). It's a remix I'm doing for a competition.

thanks bud, that bounce hasnt got any other basses in it yet. I cant make intros, im not saying im amazing at making basslines, but i just cant quite make a good riff to match the rest. tried a few different types of pads and such, to make it vary from soft to loud but just not getting it. thanks, an again guys soon as i get this internet working well enough ill give some feedback. it took me 20 mins to download one song!

@nruen
I like the percussion and the overall progression of the track, mix sounds good and I like the synth that comes in later on.

@Kes-Es
Drums are pretty slick, remind me of burial. I like the pad that keeps coming in but I also think there something else to make it interesting, even though it's only an intro.

@The Other Drug
Sounds pretty scary bro, in a good way though. Once the bass kicks in it gets pretty sick, I don't really like some of the drums though.

This ones a bit of an experiment not sure what you guys will make of it but some helpful feedback would be mean. And maybe some advice on what genre it would fit into. The names pretty funny, I had a dream that I stole this fucking delicous fruit from the supermarket which was a mix between an orange and a tangerine lol

@The Other Drug the mixdown sounds top notch man. love the melody, reminds me of like the nightmare before christmas movies or something haha . good shit man, that was a sick ass buildup though, i think you should take out the first kickroll though it seemed out of place. and the second kick roll before the pika, when it gets really pass you should hi pass it to have it fade out.

@Kes-Es this is cool man! kick sounds great, also the mixdown sounds very clean and everything is breathing so well. i love the snare you chose though. I could see this being played on those random commercial things mtv does, they always put that cool relaixing music on them haha . i didnt really like that synth at 1:45 though. maybe an octave lower? kind of just changed the vibe of the track for me. great track though man :W:

@nicorisone you are pushing the boundaries of becoming the modern day burial lol . i like how your shit is so atmospheric all those acoustic sounding drums and the cool distant sounds. what is this kind of music called cause it amazing ! what inspires you to make this kind of music?

@sifty i think you should change the melody in the beginning synth as it got a bit repetitive, its a good sounding synth though. This reminds me of middle easter music, where is my camel :corndance:

@ awfull habitz @ Wabble :rules: :rules: :rules: :rules: :rules: then you get feedback

Heres some loud, brostep, drumstep track i just started today, i might be getting carried away too much with the vocal midranges but they are so fun to make in FM8 lol 8)

RandoRando- I love the intro riff, the bass comes out of nowhere haha, maybe just have a bit more of a defined drop, all sounds amazingly tight though man nice one.

sifty- all osunding a little dry atm man add some reverb to stuff, like the lead at the intro though sounds good.. nice progression of the percussion throughout the intro too. love it after the drop, hypnotic as hell. tightly produced, solid mixdown, nice one mate.

Nruen- eerie intro i like it. reminds me slightly of burial but without the lo-fi aesthetic. really atmospheric and enjoyable to listen to, makes for good headphone music. the reversed stab sound thing is a tiny bit too loud in contrast to other elements of the tune. other than that spot on man well done.

heres my latest creation-

@randorando I LIKE THE INTRO! reminds me of like a 60's spy movie intro but in a good way gives it some personality!, I like the kick I do think a snare would go better though but I hate claps in general. There we go was waiting for megatron too cock slap me my friend next to me is into brostep and he was like big tune! I on the other hand am not but I have to agree you got the mid bass modulation down to a point! mid bass sounds fine could do with being slightly louder but thats on my shitter speakers ;) I like the edits how you bring the mid out too show the backing it all sounds pretty decent so far "For a brostep tune" maybe some FX introducing the mid bass might be a good step.

@awfulhabitz @wabble Read the rules. (give 3 pieces of feedback before posting your track or dont expect any feedback on yours)

@ Sifty (Try give more feedback if I say like the tune don't like the mid bass its not much help really) the intro is a bit plain jane needs some variation no idea what genre I would call it could do with being a video game soundtrack'ish kinda tune. The metronome sounding thing in the intro needs to go sounds really cheap. The main synths sound nice and clean and fit well so does the background. I like the drums and the bongo sounding instruments. I think variation is the main key here if you start switching the drums up and maybe do a dubstep style breakdown! (Sorry I couldnt help more I been listening to dubstep for the last 4 hours straight and anything else I listen to sounds like a wet turd in my ear)

@nruen Intro is a bit plain needs maybe a few synths behind it or a vice vocal paning from side to side, the drums on the other hand and percs i love has a really big "PHAELEH" feel to it. Just got into the main hook now and I really love the feeling you got going with the pads and the synths (I'm not too sure about the housey sounding fill) It does get slightly samey as it goes on I would deffo look for a nice vocal that you can chop up and put over this it will really fill it out and make it sound beautiful!

My current work in progress any feedback appreciated!

@nruen I'm really digging the beginning. Although, i dont know if i like the little click/pop at the very start. This might be just my preference but maybe try a slightly fatter kick. Feels like its too close to being clicky. Besides that, I love the whole feel of it. Good Job :W:

@Sifty Maybe on that beginning synth run, throw in and awkward note in there somewhere just to give it a slight variation. I really like the building crash cymbals. Possibly experiment with some reverb to the hihat parts at the beginning and at 3:00, just to fill up a little bit of that dead space. I really like the track. I also felt some potential to make a second version of it but make it way more driving. Like a super hard "4 to the floor" type beat. Good Stuff though :W:

@RandoRando I just smiled at the intro. Really cool! I think the drop happened too suddenly. Also try maybe playing with different pitches on the FM8. I feel like they could get pretty mean and aggressive if they were lower. But i could see it being a pretty sick track once it's finished!

Here's my recent and kind of experimental WIP. I'm pretty happy with it overall. All I need to do is mixdown and master. But any and all feedback is appreciated! BTW, I wrote in 3/4. So be prepared :W:

@ICON love the percussion groove in the beginning and later throughout the tune , but miss it when it isnt there cause it keeps you moving i would take at least some percs and throw them in

@lukascane you got the subs down haha nice but dont feel the midrange panning wobble to much but thats just me ; drum selection and setting is great

@cheeky love the straightness of this one dont know mix sounds fine ,wobbles sound nice drums sound nice , could only experiment with some effekts on the main wobble like chorus or a in the back and of the room reverb

@rando rando intro is so nice haha wobbles are filthy but i dig the intro sample so much more haha so unique :4:

so this is basicly a tune my brother did i only mixed tiny bit curious what you think

The Other Drug - Well produced, definately in need of some atmosphere though :)

nruen - Different, but well produced :) Most chilled tune I've heard in a while. Keep at it ;)

Rando Rand - Some great sounds in this tune. Second drop was beast. Maybe add some atmosphere to the intro, sounds a bit empty. Great tune though :)

Here's a tune I made today. Would appreciate some feedback:)

@x902 - epic intro. The drop however is really washed out, you almost miss the first kick. I also find that high-pitched lead WAY too loud and droning. Mix it up. Imo you should drop it altogether - those bass stabs you got going are pretty damn good.

@budspencertron - nice, love it. My kind of step. Your brother is now on follow ;) If anything my only real qualm is that bass that comes in at 56 secs. It's also rather muddy.

@icon - electronica in 3/4. holy shit. haha. Your bass is way too quiet and needs some more variation. After the first few bars it becomes too much.

@lucaskane - great synthesis, overall nice feeling. However I feel that vocal sample isn't really in tune with the rest of the track, same with the snare. I'd probably used a staggered clap instead, but that's just my opinion.

@cheeky - the intro has potential, but I feel like it needs a bit more "epicness". Hard to explain. I reckon that lead/bass needs to be dropped an octave, is a bit too piercing.
