DFRNT (Alex Cowles) is a producer, DJ. label owner and designer.
He builds deep dubstep, dub-techno, chilled out electronic music
with a strong emphasis on deep, danceable tracks... The energetic core in the center of the sea of tranquility.
Currently living in Edinburgh, Scotland, Alex hosts the fortnightly Insight podcast where he showcases music that he enjoys, with the emphasis on deep and melodic dubstep and dub-techno.
He also runs the Echodub label and his latest project is Cut, a netlabel specialising in free music done properly.
Aside from and as an extension of producing and playing music, Alex writes the SittingOvation blog and is editor for Modus Magazine, a printed publication centered around deeper ends of dubstep and techno.
To date, DFRNT has played alongside Synkro, Scuba, Oneman, Julio Bashmore, Versa, Dom Hz, Joker, Dorian Concept, Africa Hitech, Harmonic 313, Shadowfax, Rob Sparx, Ruckspin, Mad EP, Indigo, Forsaken, Stenchman, Antiserum, Deville, Hellfire Machina, Paranoise, Desto and Afterdark to name a few. His DJing has also taken him to Boston, Burlington, NYC, Philly, Baltimore, Washington DC, Orlando, Puerto Rico, Poland and all over the UK.
