T-Dallas - Man2Man EP

The EP sets the trend, beginning with a just-groovy-enough bassline and skittish hi-hats. It feels short on ideas, with the main hook little more than some ryhthmically chopped loops.

"Man2Man" is laid down with such swing it's amazing that it doesn't just topple over, anxious strings and dolorous chimes needlepoint snares land in quick succession. It's disorienting, because when "Man2Man" isn't swaying dangerously in one direction or the other, it's threatening to knock itself off orbit with that punchy percussion. The second track "Face2Face" does his best to find a way into the elliptical turbulence, delivering a nuanced vocal, underlining both the druggy half-awake haze and the paranoid Orientalism of its instrumentation.

A sputtering heap of mangled electronics, cackling at such obvious pleasures. It's another T-Dallas release likely to send chills down your spine, both for the quality of the music it contains and the unrelenting eeriness of its chosen mood.
