for those who use reason/record...just curious, do you guys usually put your reverbs on a send or just attach it to your synth or whatever your using? i usually do both. but whats the benefit of putting it on a send? just the ability to adjust how much you want the reverb to affect the sound by using the aux knob, right?

really dumb question i know but iv always wondered it because i use both methods and am wondering if i should just start putting my reverb on sends.

Is there a way to automate the transpose feature in Ableton without any knobs or sliders? There doesn't seem to be an automation line but I think you can assign it to a knob :(

you should be able to right click it and open a new automation lane for it, which transpose control in particular? you can also do it inside the clip.

Those are called samples. I don't know how to do it for Ableton specifically, but you just google something like "Drum Samples" or "Snare Drum Samples", etc. and download the samples and put them in a folder so you can open them in Ableton. I don't know which folder you need to put them in for Ableton though.

Freesound.org

That's the only one I know of personally, but there's probably more.

It can be any folder, you just have to go find it in the file browser. Easiest just to keep them in a folder on your desktop to whoever asked that ;-)

in ableton along the left hand side browser you have tabs 1, 2 + 3 which can be different locations on your hard drives.

putting your samples folder on your desktop is retarded, gonna majorly slow your comp down. you shouldn't really keep data saved on your desktop, get a proper filing system sorted.

How so? Having my samples there hasn't slowed my computer down at all.
I will be moving them to an external drive here in the next couple of days though.

Ya, why would the location of your files make a difference to your computers performance? I'm just curious.

having stuff on your desktop specifically slows your comp down. the desktop isn't the same as other locations on your hard drive.

got any hard data to back that up? unless your running out of memory i dont see why any stored file would slow your computer down.

well the desktop isn't just a location on the hard drive but one that is being displayed. computers thesedays it won't have a massive effect if you got lots of text files or odd tracks but personally my sample folder is fucking tonk, dunno why the fuck you'd even think about keeping that stuff on your desktop anyways.

The more free space on a disk, the faster it runs. There should be only the bare minimum on your system drive, ie sequencer and vst's, vsti's. You should also put the swap file on another disk (not system or Samples disk).

I use a stripped down version of xp with no internet or anything on it. All it does is run cubase. That ishow you should do it for maximum efficiency.
