my tracks sound a mess.. how to master

Post by Sub South » Tue Aug 09, 2011 10:37 am

Right so i've made this drumstep track, with around 6 different bass sounds, and it sounds messy as fuck and you can't really tell whats happening :S i don't really know what to do to be frank. the track will be in my sig, please tell me what i can do to make it sound more audible and mastered thanks. I use cubase 6's own pluggins, so it would be helpfull if you could relate to those, but don't worry if you cant.
Cheers

you shouldn't rely on mastering to fix issues with the mix. I think the main problem is that your synths are too loud in the mix and the drums don't punch through well enough. If turning it down doesn't work, try adding sidechain compression to it from the kick and snare.
