this thread moves so quickly!

so if they have taken so many police from around the UK for london tonight, doesn't that leave other towns/cities vulnerable?! :(

I heard Mark Duggan's cousin had been killed less than a week earlier. Wouldn't rule out that the weapon serving for defense, at worst paying respect to his family.

My town's fucked when rioters arrive. They've already shut down my high-street,

What are you on about? Isn't the report about Mark Duggan who died last week before the rioting started?

joeki wrote:Bit of a naive statement above if you ask me.

If that person had drawn his self-made gun on a police officer before being shot, don't you think that would have been issued as a statement by now, in fact wouldn't it have been made official immediately after the events expired? There were multiple police officers at the scene and the man was apparently confined to a vehicle...?
An MP5 is a sub machine gun people, it fires both semi-automatic and automatic and can empty a 30 round clip in a matter of seconds. If the guy had drawn a gun, it would have been made public by now. It could have prevented an initial riot if the shooting was warranted and the story could have been corroborated by several people... instead some copper sprayed an automatic sub machine gun about killing one person and almost killing his own colleague...the fact that a gun was found at the scene gave officers some time to fabricate some sort of story...it left options open....

I bet someone had an itchy trigger finger and reacted to the nervous person in the car who happened to be carrying a gun around to protect his wife and four children from the tugs who have been on the streets for the past few days. Let's face, Met Police's record isn't exactly clean is it? Wouldn't be the first time they fucked up!

That being said, it is very sad that all this is pretty irrelevant to the ensuing looting and rioting...... :u:

just correcting things here

an mp5 your police use has 4 positions. Safe, Single Shot, Burst, Continuous shot

Your government uses them because it's got the look of an assault rifle, but ultimately it can be used the same as a 9mm pistol. I find it hard to believe most officers in the UK have ever even put their MP5 in burst mode outside of training.

It's not a murder only weapon (not like they're using m16s or anything) an mp5 is about as reasonable as a 9mm with a little more psychological effect on the public

Chef on facebook
It smells of dirty smoke in Croydon and my room at mumsies, her house is in between the fire of Rockbottom and the fire on the corner of London/St James Rd, luckily her and the house are kool.
There's a very somber feeling in the area right now and total utter disbelief.
It's like there's a storm coming into Croydon the way everything is either being shut down or boarded up like a hurricane is gonna hit town tonight.
There's a rush in the shops that are still open as people are buying up all the essentials and the petrol stations are busy.
I heard a policeman say to a shop owner ''get ready''' as i was on my way home.
These guys doing this madness aren't doing it for Duggan but a lot of people have got their own reason to be angry right now about the way things are in the UK and his death was the final straw that broke the camels back. To be honest for a lot of kids these days haven't got nothing better to do with their energy and time so when a literal once in a lifetime opportunity like this comes around to make noise, feel powerful and in control for once and go grab stuff from shops you go past everyday that you or parents can't realistically buy from anytime soon then I'm not surprised because it was allowed to get out of control.. Of course it's not right but I understand why it's happening, it's one thing looting JD's or Curry's but setting fire to peoples property and cars, charity shops etc is totally unacceptable. I know through the grapevine that's it's gonna kick off again soon.
Thanks to everyone who's rung me, sent a message or email.

Haven't got anything crossed people, maybe it's because of my English or maybe you people aren't reading the bigger picture.

@Pkay,
An mp5 is a murder weapon, SAS use(d) it for a reason. The amount of positions vary per version indeed. But single shot and full auto are easiest to explain which you now have done, but that info was largely irrelevant. Thanks for the correction though.

@ People thinking I'm confusing Duggan with the riots. These thugs were around BEFORE the rioting started. Don't you get that? People are carrying guns to protect themselves from thugs that now are abusing the situation to go out and riot and loot. Look at what happened to his cousin? I would be carrying around weapons if some of that happened to my family. And now he happened to run into a checkpoint where he acted nervously and hence, someone shot him (at least that is how I "feel" it happened). He was described as a normal person just trying to fend for his family....hence how I come to the conclusion above.

Not that hard to comprehend now is it?

by not a murder weapon I'm comparing to an assault rifle... a 9mm can be used to subdue not kill only

9mm vs 45mm from an m-16. Completely different approaches in the form of law enforcement.

Speaking only from military experience if you need to wound and subdue a 9mm round is easily survivable in most areas of the body baring vital organs. Where as 1 shot from an m16 can kill you literally anywhere on the body.

Functionally, in law enforcement, there is little difference between a beretta and an mp5 outside of the mp5's full auto.

The police dont use the automatic setting on the mp5 because after 2-3 rounds the weapon becomes uncontrollable.

Both 9mm and 5.56 which an m16 uses can kill you with one shot, both pretty weak rounds though and thats why theyre used, mainly to incappacitate rather than kill.

Why can't they produce them without this function then? Seeing as it's not to be used

No idea what you're on about. I just restarted the whole fucking thing :/ my old file had too many bugs in, literally couldn't complete quests. In need of decent weapons though, so this will come in handy. :Q:
