how to make hard sharp synth

Post by sweetseed » Wed Aug 10, 2011 12:11 am

hey brothas, I write because I want to create a hard sharp synth!
Typical flux pavilion, skrillex, borgore, Dr. P, etc etc etc
I have tried them with +24 osc, distortions, but I remain just as rotten !!!!!
any suggestions?? waveforms should I use??, which modulate I can use?? and to use LFO but are not good, STEPPER??
I produce with Ableton Live and VST MASSIVE

here I leave a tip of the sounds that I say:

Find an audio file of some sort of noisy power tool, scream, etc. just something real distorted and nasty sounding. Go into an audio editor and select a tiny piece of it, like 0.01 seconds. Load this as a waveform into some synth (3xosc in FL Studio supports this)

for the screech i would say there is not a fast lfo on the filter. But it is on pulsewidth or something like that. Plus it a lot of it has to do with multiple oscs with +1 octaves. With much filter resonance and distortion.

The fast LFO is going by the same idea as FM synthesis. It's fast enough that you don't hear the wobbling, it just makes it sound highly distorted.

use the formant setting on one of the oscillators, and play about with the intensity of it. this can be found next to the waveform select. set another oscillator on a normal setting to pad out the sound. not very explanatory but once you hear the formant setting you should be able to get the rest of the sound.
