Can someone explain why invisible war was so bad? I absolutely loved it.

Re: It's quite something... [Deus Ex 2: Human Revolution]
To be fair, it wasn't bad, just compared to the first one it was missing so much, the open ended structure, a lot of the character development, it was also much easier. The story in the first one was amazing too. Invisible war simplified a lot of the RPG elements and made it basically a straight forward shooter.
Thing is, I loved the first one so much Invisible War was always likely to disappoint me, so I'm biased.
That said, JC Denton was also way more badass than the Invisible War guy, no argument there.

Wow, just wow, im in complete awe, that is so epic they need to make it a movie. Im tempted to save up for a new computer just for this game. And hate me but i liked invisible war.

Re: It's quite something... [Deus Ex 2: Human Revolution]
I just think it's very easy or people to write off a sequel to a great game and not give it an honest chance. As much as I like JC Denton, I don't want to play the same game 3 times. Overall Invisible War tipped the balance towards more of a FPS than an RPG, but Deus Ex was never meant to be an RPG. It's easy to hate on FPS because they're what's popular at the moment, as if there isn't a such thing as a good FPS.
Conceptually it was great. The action itself was much better, too. It was a bit more linear (although you can still drastically alter the storyline) but there were hordes of factions to mess around with. The bio modifications were i guess "simplified", but they were still badass and the original had a couple redundant skills anyway. I would definitely agree that the plot isn't nearly as interesting as the first, mostly because of the lack of a personality and context like JC Denton.

I was thinking of getting a new Graphics Card, but: 1) I doubt the new graphics cards would even fit on my board with out covering jumpers, ram etc. 2) £250 to play a new game? Thread title is wrong, should be 3!
Am well looking forward to this now. Purposefully haven't read anything about it or watched any new trailers cos I want it to be a big surprise when I finally play it
Never ever ever got DE:2 working on any of my computers, so I've not played a Deus Ex since the first one.

Re: It's quite something... [Deus Ex 2: Human Revolution]
This game is going to be incredible. I've got it pre-ordered on Steam. Played a bit of the leaked preview build and it confirmed my purchase, didn't play very long so I wouldn't spoil myself. Just recently I made myself push through the first game after owning it for a couple of years. I could never get past the first section without losing interest which is apparently the same case for a lot of people because its just not a very good introduction but once you're past that it's one of the greatest PC games in existence.
And now my hype for this game is through the roof.

I got a copy of the first Deus Ex in anticipation for this game, but still haven't played it through and won't be able to before this is released.
Ugh.

Re: It's quite something... [Deus Ex 2: Human Revolution]
If you're any bit interested in the fps/rpg or scifi genres you've got to play it. Human Revolution is a prequel at least, so you could always play the first game afterwards. Although I'd imagine it being difficult since HR is that much more amazing graphically.kruptah wrote:I got a copy of the first Deus Ex in anticipation for this game, but still haven't played it through and won't be able to before this is released.
Ugh.
Just recently the New Vision mod was released, a high resolution texture pack that replaces about 75% of the original games textures.
