Because I already have the LPK25 and I wanted to get the LPD8 pad to go with it, but I would like a new MIDI keyboard.
Yeah that's exactly it. Nice little controller, nothing too fancy but it gets the job done.

Although I would love to get a 49 key controller with weighted keys and such :U:

as someone who owned a mpk mini recently and now owns an oxygen 25, i'd recommend them both equally if it wasn't for the fact that one day my mpk just STOPPED WORKING. COMPLETELY. it just doesn't work now. i took it to guitar center and they said they had no idea what the problem was. i barely moved it from my desk except in my backpack which is thickly padded (made for a laptop) and had it secured down. very lame, maybe the problem is the usb shit you guys are talking about?? is there any way to fix it if the thing is broken, or any way to tell if its broken? it looks fine to me, maybe a couple millimeters crooked.

then i picked up my oxygen 25 v3 for 50 bucks and haven't looked back. very nice, the build is MUCH MORE solid, the pitch bend/mod wheel is a dream for automation (fyi the little knobs on the mpk are a pain in the ass if you're trying to make complicated bass patches), and the full size keys feel really good (not that there's anything wrong with minikeys). also, the one thing that most people overlook that seriously changed everything about the way i work: fucking transport controls. so cool, i end up producing half of a song without ever looking at my screen sometimes (feels REALLY good for someone whose into hardware).

another thing: i realized that, even though i was an mpc user for a VERY long time, i barely used the pads on my mpk (they just aren't that nice to use, sorry akai!), and found myself tapping shit out on the keyboard instead.

either way though, you're walking away with a solid piece of gear that should be plenty enough for most producers to get moving. i think my MPK just got fucked up, idk, i have an AKAI tattoo on my neck so i do trust them, i think i just got screwed/i screwed myself somehow. w/e thats life
