It's 24 players for consoles I believe, which makes me sad because I have an awful PC and game on my xbox more these days

Built a new PC other day with an i7 2600k. Reused my XFX HD 5850 because its only a year old and still a valid card.

Bad Company 2 runs super smooth on full whack, ill fraps it later to get a frame rate.

Bring on BF3.

Meh, am not bothered. I don't have any loyalty to Steam what so ever; even if I did, I really wouldn't object to using Origin to download one game. Plus the integration with Battlelog (which is very good, think a Facebook for BF3). Origin doesn't feel as clunky as Steam either, although that could be because my games library just consisted of the Battlefield 3 Alpha test.

I'll be getting a hard copy anyway!

(Edit to add: I hate Battlelog at first but if it keeps the stats updated in real time as it did in Alpha then it's great for admins like me.)

Am hoping there's an in-game admin GUI so I don't have to dick about trying to remember commands:

not hating on BF3 it does look extremely aesthetically pleasing, but everyone is hyping over frostbite 2, when i personally think it looks rather similar to cry engine 3.

It's an Alpha. All the videos you have seen including the official ones are running on an Alpha game engine and not the final product. The blurb sort of gives it away:

"This footage is based on Alpha Testing"

Crytek just made their engine look pretty. Dice made their engine look pretty and throw in shit loads of dynamic physics etc into it, such as mega destruction. But yes, it does look like Crysis 2 when I was playing it. I think I said on here that if your computer can rune Crysis 2 then you'll have no trouble running BF3.
