Dead Island
Right, think I've found what my next game is going to be...
Zombie themed FPS action RPG with emphasis on melee combat, Fallout style experience system, Civilisation 2 style skills 'tree', enemies that level up with your character...fuck yes.

Re: Dead Island
I've been looking forward to this for quite awhile. There's so many good games coming out this year.

My english teacher gave me a weird look when I mentioned that as the musical instrument I played. Like the wtf stare. I had to give her the 'wiki wiki' dj motion to confirm what i meant.

Gameplay length aside, you've got 4 characters to choose from, weapon customisation options, vehicle customisation options, different skill paths...replay value all round.

Re: Dead Island
Didn't realise this was out so soon. That first trailer that came out was absolutely amazing.
Re: Dead Island
I dunno the combat looks like it feels kind of weak, as if when your playing it it doesn't feel like theres any power behind your blows. Might be different if you actually have the controller in your hands though I dunno. Hand to hand doesn't look as good as condemned, which is probably the most simmilar game I can think of. Doesn't look as scary either.
Script sounds terrible as well. At about 6:19 when you meet that guy. "oh my god your alive. You should go see the James, I'm sure he'll be suprised your alive. Follow me to James, I'm sure he'll be glad to see your alive."

I think that was a static NOC speech immediately being followed by the player triggering interaction with an NPC.
Re: Dead Island
Weapons are never as powerful as they should be in games but as ive never sliced anyones head off with a cleaver before i wouldnt know. looks pretty decent though, hopefully you'll be able to roam around freely instead of following map markers constantly.
Re: Dead Island
interested to see how the Chrome 5 engine works. Haven't been too impressed in the past with Chrome engines but this game looks wicked. Only a few more weeks!
Re: Dead Island
is this any good then?

Re: Dead Island
It's good, really good.
I forgot we play games for "story" and "animations". We play it for gameplay and experiences, which there are plenty of. It's a damn fine game, if not a little buggy in places. There are games with great stories, this isn't one of them, but who cares? It's about killing zombies and roaming a huge free roam island...

Re: Dead Island
Are the animatimations different on the proper version though? The video I posted is from the dev version, hence the greater number of bugs.
