Burial and the use of "Dog" in song titles.

Post by Ceerial » Thu Aug 18, 2011 3:01 pm

This might be a incredible dumb question... But it's been bothering me for awhile. But what's reason for Burial using the word dog in his titles?. Stolen Dog and Dog Shelter as song titles don't make any sense to me. Is there some message/meaning to it, that I just don't get? -r-

Dog shelter... a sad place for unhappy dogs with no families or freedom..

Stolen dog, someone steals your friend, your pet, something you love.. you feel distraught.

These are wild guesses but at the end of the day they are just tune names.. there is no deep meaning usually.

these are probably the emotions he wants you to feel listening to those tunes. maybe people who have been in the situation can relate.
Maybe burial himself has had his dog nicked lol.. who knows.

Yeah.. That's what i thought aswelll. First time I've heard Stolen Dog, I couldn't help but thinking of my first dog I really loved and now is dead. Made me really sad. Song titles can actually have an certain effect on you emotionally. But I know there's probably not a deeper or secret meaning to song titles. But i'm just curious to what they mean. I'm general kind of confused about some Burial song titles.

Of course they're just titles, but it's a fact that he made "Archangel" because his dog had passed away recently at that time.

While I agree, 'Stolen Cat' and 'Cat Shelter' don't have quite the same ring to them.
