there are 2 ground breaking ideas here that, if correct, will alter how scientists understand the universe

nah antimatter has been discovered, measured in our upper atmosphere, and is being used for various applicationsHypefiend wrote:how about anti matter? or is that just from a video game i playeddeadly habit wrote:actually no one knows wtf a black hole is, or dark matter
a black hole is just a placeholder term for a singularity where the laws of physics, time, and space fail
dark matter is just a placeholder term for something scientists have no clue what it is
RE: alien life, we've only really scratched the surface in the last half of the century as far as exploration, transmitting, and observation. the transmissions we've sent out have only recently reached our nearest star. we're just scratching the surface exploring mars and finding evidence of water. there are also numerous potential exoplanets that have been discovered within our own solar system. this is also assuming that if beings of higher intelligence observed what was going on in our world, they would want to make contact (ffs with all the wars and the general disregard for our own environment and resources, who you want to risk making contact at this point in time?)
there's also the potential that said lifeforms are not carbon based, or may not even consist of known elements on our periodic table (what if ghosts are aliens
honestly there is so much left undiscovered and unexplored on our own planet that i find it ridiculous to be dismissive about things of this nature.

Re: Aliens, ghosts etc
I think not 1 single alien ship or alien has ever been seen by anyone ever.
Reasons:
1. Why would an alien spaceship need flashing lights on the outside?
2. This galaxy is 100,000 light years circ. So maybe the nearest alien is say 10,000 light years away. Are they really gonna travel for 10,000 years?
3. If they can travel at 99.9% of light speed or they can warp space(faster than light travel) then they could observe every facet of human existance as stealthily as the CIA could observe a dung beetle.
4. What is so damn interesting about Rednecks?

so everything has a flaw? the universe has a flaw which are black holes correct? or does it just depend on how you look at it in your own perspective.deadly habit wrote:nah antimatter has been discovered, measured in our upper atmosphere, and is being used for various applicationsHypefiend wrote:how about anti matter? or is that just from a video game i playeddeadly habit wrote:actually no one knows wtf a black hole is, or dark matter

Re: Aliens, ghosts etc
I also wanted to ask if ghosts are just energy manifesting itself and effecting of how we perceive things what exactly does that mean and is that true?
just need to know for a presentation im doing of a past event which i had encountered a "ghost" not exactly sure what kind of trick had been played on my mind to see this. i know it wasn't drugs since there had been no drugs involved and i was only 13, i didn't do drugs at that age since i had been too young to even consider or think about doing somethin. i just want to be able to explain this occurrence in a detailed way, and so i can understand why this has happened.

I hope you're not an atheist.cityzen wrote:Can you prove that ghosts do not exist?
No, you can't.
Can you then say to me there is no chance, however remote, that ghosts exist?
No, you can't.
But you are trying to, hence - your logic is sub par.
I would bring you back to the example of the black swan but I think it would be wasted on you.

In one respect a black hole is what happens when you 'break' spacetime. So it prevents a flaw being a part of the universe.Hypefiend wrote:so everything has a flaw? the universe has a flaw which are black holes correct? or does it just depend on how you look at it in your own perspective.deadly habit wrote:nah antimatter has been discovered, measured in our upper atmosphere, and is being used for various applicationsHypefiend wrote:how about anti matter? or is that just from a video game i playeddeadly habit wrote:actually no one knows wtf a black hole is, or dark matter

Re: Aliens, ghosts etc
Black holes stick a middle finger up at physics, it amazes me how a massive amount of mass gets compacted into a tiny area, imagine what it would be like to get sucked into one. its also possible to 'time travel' if you go past one without getting sucked in...

Re: Aliens, ghosts etc
the simplest way to explain a black hole is a 3d dimensional hole where every direction is down (at least that we know so far)
it's all theoretical for now, all we've done till now is observe, no real measurements from say probes or satellites approaching an event horizon transmitting back data
that and the nearest black hole is 1,600 light years away (to put that in perspective a light year is 9,460,730,472,580.8 km)
