Tweaking Parameters/Routing with Massive+FL
Ah yes, this is the forum I need to be in. So far the public over at NI forums have been stupidly unhelpful. But then again, this is probably an age old question. I've had a nose about the dubstep forums and there seems to be related questions to mine, and they have been fixed. But not quite working for me. I am having serious issues using Massive as a VSTI/plugin/whatever with FL10.
I use a PC keyboard for now because I am skint from buying endless programs etc. etc. and I can't get Massive working with it. I don't want to run massive as a separate program then save anything as a wav and import it into FL. I like to keep it all tidy instead of opening and closing shit. If I open massive in FL I can happily use the keyboard and kick out a few notes. As soon as I do ANYTHING, tweak a parameter, move shit around in massive the sound cuts out. The keyboard does nothing. Massive's little Db meter to the right is dead, as if its not outputting any sound. If I click back into the pattern window in FL, then back to Massive, I am back at square one.
I have had suggestions to rerouting massive with FL using virtual midi controllers. Right now I have the Loopbe1 plugin, Yoke, Bome's Keyboard and MIDI-OX. I also tried Vimidi but it fucks with my mouse and moves it all over the place. I can route Bome with FL as a keyboard midi controller - but I still have to click out of massive/FL onto Bome's to be able to use the keyboard to produce a note - so there is no benefit at all in using Bome. (As far as my knowledge goes, its a seperate window)
I have a basic knowledge of MIDI, so any tutorials would be more than helpful because it pisses me off so much that the VST some would consider the best synth for dubstep fails to work naturally with FL.
P.s. I have noticed Bome has a option to pop in a knob preset file from reason, I was wondering if FL has the same file(ish) that could be dropped into Bome? Would it help?
Thoughts/links appreciated.
Oh, and posting 'get a midi keyboard' is of no help to me right now

Re: Tweaking Parameters/Routing with Massive+FL
There was another thread recently that had the solution. Theres an target window option somewhere that sorts this out. Check the fruity thread I think its in there.
Re: Tweaking Parameters/Routing with Massive+FL
I had/have this problem too, I found something decent to work around it with. BUT let me know if there is an actual fix for it! The way I do it (when I'm not in Live
is I click into fruity loops and have an empty pattern selected and click play. Open massive and hold down a key on your keyboard. WHILE HOLDING THE KEY, click and drag knobs/other parameters in massive to get the sound you want. Most of the time the sound will continue to play even after releasing the key. BUT it will change real time based on whatever it is you're doing in massive.
Kind of annoying to have one long drawn out note that you can't stop until you the stop button, but it beats playing a sound, messing with settings in silence, and then click in fl and listening to it again.
If anyone can find an actual fix somewhere please post it here! Thanks!

Yup, I've been trying different searches off an on for the last few days, if anyone has a link it would be greatly appreciated
Re: Tweaking Parameters/Routing with Massive+FL
Currently on my phone and nowhere near my computer but I remember reading the thread with the solution. It was something like a simple setting in massive. I can't remember exactly what its called now but if I can get to it before any of you ill post it
Re: Tweaking Parameters/Routing with Massive+FL
click out of the massive window and click on the step sequencer or something and you will probably have your MIDI back. and the best solution to this problem is to use a MIDI keyboard, not a computer qwerty keyboard.
Re: Tweaking Parameters/Routing with Massive+FL
It is advisable to purchase an at least decent midi controller for this and many other reasons. Music production will be so much more fun with it.
Re: Tweaking Parameters/Routing with Massive+FL
That's what I was trying to say earlier in this thread, but I know there is a way so you don't have to keep doing that. I need a good 4 octave midi controller anyone have personal advice pm mejrisreal wrote:click out of the massive window and click on the step sequencer or something and you will probably have your MIDI back. and the best solution to this problem is to use a MIDI keyboard, not a computer qwerty keyboard.

Go to your local mega-department-store and find some cheap kids toy that happens to support midi, you'd be shocked how many there actually are these days.Dzanjin wrote:That's what I was trying to say earlier in this thread, but I know there is a way so you don't have to keep doing that. Anyone else found a fix?
Re: Tweaking Parameters/Routing with Massive+FL
This, in FL just click on the wrapper settings top left of massive, then click the box 'don't allow keyboard focus' and then it works, this is in the FL thread I posted it there too.mikeyp wrote:Click the little menu arrow, then click ''smart disable''
