Some people think they know everything bout music, truth is they are just an X Factor fan and know everything about pop for the last 5 years. Of course me and you would challenge that and question whether or not that is even music at all.... other people would question even whether dubstep is music at all... who fukken cares.

Bottom line, fuck what anyone else thinks, make what YOU feel and what YOU like, play it as loud as you like and have fun doing it. If anyone else likes it, it's a bonus :)
ennit, i watched x factor other night, and like someone was on about how music is their life, and their passion, but if it is how can they go on a program like x factor. i mean i know pop music is music, but i dunno how you can call yourself a music lover when you just listen to pop! i mean i can listen to some pop and even enjoy some, but like most pop is trash.

but yeah im probably my own biggest fan haha, i dont finish a tune unless i think its good, and then like i might finish it and still think ahh its a bit meh, but then after a while ill listen to it and be like, ahh yeah its alright actually. i just dont feel it really fits anywhere though, but yeah i liek to just sit there and blast through my tunes, and see if they stand up to ones i like, im never gonna like them more than other peoples music i like though.

You always make music YOU like.
That's what producing is all about for me.

Making music that I like, if others like it, fuck yes, if not, well no biggie.

Uncomfortable blasting your own music?

NOPE... got over that the first time i played out live, even if things are alittle sketchy or mediocre put your bass face on and make the room dance their faces off.

i do make music i like but get fuckin bored of it after a few weeks. i make dubstep because i love it and experiment with other types of genres or whatever when i'm in the mood. but if i listen to a different track by someone i would like it for a while even if i had listened to it 50 times and then get bored of it i would end up still liking it a few weeks or months later.

Blasting your music while driving is like doing promo for yourself.

Lol its all about confidence, if you play your own tunes in a set you learn pretty fast what your doing wrong when its side by side with another "professional" track. Play your tunes who gives a fuck, and it feels so good when someone likes it or your hear it at your friends house or whatever.

This.
I found some riffs I wrote on my bass when I first started playing almost five years ago. Total shite, but I used to blast my bass and played that riff to everyone who wanted me to play like a boss.

I dunno where I started getting self conscious, but I'm finding that when my tunes are at a more comparable volume to those of professionals (i.e not needing to crank the volume on the hi fi all the way to max for my tunes) that I start giving less and less of a fuck.
Reverse guitar solo

You have too high of expectations...You can't be the next Zomboy in a day
haha okay i'm just joking about that last part..But in all seriousness.
Make a rough copy of it, take out a couple friends, play your track, and don't say a word :)
Works everytime mate :) cheers

lol, must be a personal thing with the OP cuz i LOVE to hear my own tunes. not that i think they are better tunes than others, but i know what i like, and thats why i hear my own tunes loud when i can all the time. they truly are tunes made for me that cater to my likings.

and just like Gurnumsbug said, i've played a couple of my tracks in the car while riding with my gf or at home with other people and she/they have no idea i made the track, yet they are digging it. a few time i've mentioned afterwards that i made the track, and they don't believe me. happened recently with my gf, said that it was too good to have been made by me. lmao

Man I remember when I posted this, and I have overcome that feeling of self consciousness because now I'm a fucking boist and my music is Based as fuck. Whooping Crane for life and thanks to all the people in this thread helping me out when I was just a youngster.

Listen to your gut man, when you get a track right, you'll know it, and you won't have any hesitation blasting it.

my apartment neighbor loves it when I blast my shit, since august he's called security 13 times :P but they can never do anything about it because it's not inbetween the hours of 10pm-7am. The poor guy can only hear the sub because most the time my stereo is sitting at -32db. But then when your always mixing to -6db and below.... not really that loud imo.
