yeah it's not on the fly like rugby... it's a chess match of sorts. Especially defensive schemes. Running blitz's or the choice to run a dime vs nickel package... guessing run, getting pass. All have dire consequences.

US Football becomes far more exciting if you understand the tactical side of it and in between plays you're trying to act out your next moves

Except he's not though - the Quarterback is throwing the ball to an area of the pitch where he expects the receiver to be, if the receiver is doing their role properly.
Believe me, they are that accurate, and will make the tiniest adjustments to make their throw naturally lead into the run of the player. These guys are unbelievably good at throwing pigskins. I would expect a good quarterback to be able to hit you in the head 9 times out of 10 throwing the ball more 50 yards if you were running in a straight line without taking any real time to focus on what they are doing.

Baseball fielders are similarly accurate - we look at the glove and immediately dismiss the sport as less skilful, but these guys are throwing the ball at about 100mph (maybe an exaggeration) and will virtually land it right in their teammates glove every time. It's rare to see someone playing a base for example to have to actually move their legs at all to catch the ball.

TLDR - People from the Americas are good at throwing stuff

i noticed this during the riots that the UK crowd was bad at throwing. our rubble accuracy would have been much better in a US riot!

Rugby FTW.

I'm not going to get into this again, but, rugby players hit at the knees, football players hit at the shoulders. You're not getting knocked out getting hit at the knees

PKay I wasn't trying to make this rugby vs football, you know about American football and I don't. I don't mean to sound patronising but it doesn't sound like you know about rugby if you don't think there's that much to it. Anyway, I wasn't trying to argue one is better than the other, it just didn't seem like a great hit in the first video.

You're way off if you think it's not as physical though, it might not have been a hollywood hit but i can tell you that aussie guy is fucking hard, and that tackle broke his ribs.

Hugh, you're clearly a mong, you don't seem to understand either sport.

No idea what you're trying to say either Kidshuffle, rugby players hit at the knees?

All these reasons and more are evidence as to why Madden is and will always be the best selling sports video game franchise in the USA, and why there are always thousands of players in the online lobbies ready for a match.

i never said rugby wasn't as athletic. Was talking about how they're not doing huge running head starts so the hits don't have as much momentum. I also validated the rugby players game by saying there's is more constant so they can't afford to lay themselves out as they have to keep going non stop as the play doesnt end on a tackle.

Hi therapist I actually played rugby for two years when I was leaving school, but you know , I obviously don't know anything about it because my opinion on the sport conflicts with yours.
Because I like to try stuff out. I enjoyed it for a the first year but eventually realised it wasn't a game with much depth at all and that it was nowhere near as enjoyable as other sports I played at the time. The emphasis was always on physical presence and the game boils down to which team has the faster, more powerful players and which team has the better kicker. Beyond that it's just a mess of bodies. IMO.
But who cares cos I'm clearly just a mong who doesn't know about sport n stuff lolz.

As you've explained here, you don't seem to understand the game, so yes I stick by what I said. I'm not arguing whether you enjoyed it or not, that's up to you.

Anyway, there's no real debate as to what is the most manly sport.

^ was looking for that clip. that's a massive hit.

@ the op's clip. That's a fucking monster of a hit but it's easy to smash someone mid-flight when their eyes are on the ball. You can't argue a one on one train wreck!

eeeeh If you could direct me to the post that you surmised this from that would be nice.
If people don't understand rugby they are fucking retarded, it's one of the easiest games to understand there is. I dunno why you are insisting I don't understand the game. Like I said I played for two years. I understand the game full stop. We weren't herp-derping through the games, it was a real commitment with training sessions, tactics and drills.

It just seems like you take too much pride in the sport to be honest.
List of sports that require a greater technical ability to take part in than rugby

-Footy
-Cricket
-Golf
-Darts
-Tennis
-Badminton
-Squash
-Volleyball
-Any racket sport actually
-Boxing/any close combat sport
-Skiiing
-fuck me i'm getting bored
-Swimming - to an extent, but definitely another sport where size/physicality really has an overt impact on your potential
- pretty much any other sport you can think of

Stuff like saying all a rugby player needs to think about it not passing the ball forwards, there's a ton of different skills needed to be good at rugby, in some sports it's only a very specific couple of skills that are required. I don't care about arguing which sports are good or not, I just thought your posts were a bit dumb. That video was nothing to do with you or undermining anyone.

lol hugh.

Judging by the state of northern hemisphere rugby at the moment, no wonder you feel this way. Talk about uninventive footy.

you're forgetting baseball.... hitting a baseball is widely considered the action which requires the most skill for an athlete to perform given modern ball manipulation, speed, etc

There's only so much the receiver can do though. If the defender is doing his role properly, the quarterback would have to be that accurate.

As far as the whole Rugby vs. Football thing, not sure who hits harder. I think maybe football hits seem harder because they are moving a lot faster? Rugby seems more of a wrestling match while football can be a high speed match of human bumper cars. I actually just watched my first rugby match yesterday. :)

EDIT: I think hockey hits would be the heaviest. Getting slammed into rock hard ice after getting flattened by a flying beast just seems insane. Have never played hockey though so I'm not exactly sure.
