Secret Ninja Tune Collaboration

Post by NilsFG » Thu Aug 25, 2011 11:14 pm

I'm not lying when I say that a lot of people here produce and are in fact quite good at it.
So I got this idea to maybe set up some collaborations between ninjas.
Why? Simple: it's fun, can help against any writer's block you have and maybe you can even learn some new techniques, both production-wise and collaboration-wise.

Anyway, if you're a producer, doesn't matter if you're bad/good, beginner/total pr0 4 lyf, ... everybody's welcome, and you would like to collab with a ninja, just post a message here.
Include the genre you would like to collab on, your style (as in; deep, dark, energetic, ... whatever) and some of your older work (if you have any).
Maybe it's interesting to give some information about which DAW you're using too.

Other ninjas who are interested can reply here (or contact per PM), and start planning the future collab.
And when the collab is finished (or better, if the collab ever gets finished), just post it back here so we can all have a listen and give feedback!

Remember that this is community driven, so if you like the idea, keep bumping and keep producing! :W:
And if you have any tips about collaborations themselves, please post them!

I'll start of first; I've never done any collab over the internet to be honest, only with friends irl.

I've only really ventured into creating dubstep, even though I have a go at dnb too from time to time.
All about the more deeper and darker stuff for me, but I'm ready to collaborate on more energetic stuff too.

I'm an FL Studio user btw.

Didn't post this in the production forum because of the whole secret ninja thing.
This is, after all, the secret ninja hideout. And that, is the production forum.

They overlap, but that is all.

I'm definitely up for this!
And how will you inquire into a thing when you are wholly ignorant of what it is? Even if you happen to bump right into it, how will you know it is the thing you didn't know?

I don't produce or anything atm but I'm wondering how a collab over the net would work?

One person begins with a tune and adds some elements (like a drum pattern with some samples, maybe a bassline, some stabs, whatever).
He then sends the project file and used samples (I know that, in FL Studio, they can be exported as one file) to the other person, who then works further with it.
Afterwards, he sends it back. And so on, and so on.

At least, that's how I would do it!

Genre? Style? DAW? Examples of older work?

I'll make a list tomorrow of all the people to give things a bit more structure.

Another forum I'm a member of is just about to put out its second compilation... someone picks the rules and then anyone can submit. First one each track had to be dead on 60 seconds, second one was matching singers to producers - singer provides an acapella, producer makes it into a song... setting some rules seemed to be enough to get people working rather than just saying "Yeah, I'll submit something when I'm ready..."

The first one was great fun... I reckon SNH has got some good imagination lurking around!

Yeah up for this.

Style:- Anything between 120 and 140 really.
DAW: Logic 9
Soundcloud in sig!

When we collab we usually prefer to work the bass and arrangement (aka we arent the musically gifted people)

Edit:- Logic 9 not Logic 8!!

Hmm, I've got a ton of half finished projects that I just couldn't figure percussion/arrangements/chopping bits and stuff for. When I get home I'll try to post a couple and see if anyone's interested in adding some new flare to them.

I use Logic 9, Komplete and a bunch free plugs.

Productionwise:

That is my remix EP with some of my better productions in it.

Main style is just like Skrilex i'd say :6:
