Starting a collection before buying decks is not the best idea on my part.

Constantly warped and damaged records from Chemical Records... if i've been annoyed enough to complain eventually a refund or replacement will be sent but Red Eye's have a 100% success rate with me so far. Records flat as a pancake every time. Red Eye Records all the way.

You know, people in the third world have real problems.

If you're worried about how much you're spending on vinyl, put a monthly limit on it. e.g. currently I buy four 12"s a month or equivalent, like it could be a double-pack and two 12"s instead, which comes to £25-30 usually. I'll make the odd exception for an LP seeing as I only buy a few a year. This might seem fairly limited but means I have all killer, no filler in my box. Second hand stuff I buy every now and then too but then I already have more or less all the old garage etc I want (or can realistically justify buying!)

Exactly this. Used to always have loads of money at hand. Those days were over when I started buying vinyl. Seriously.

You should mate. I did the same thing after only 2 orders on Chemical containing damaged records in both.
Out of those 2 orders off of Chemical, I also got 3 records that didn't even fit on my turntable because the centre whole was too tight (bad choice of words). I had to use a file to make the centre whole bigger, otherwise the records wouldn't come off the tunrtable pin without having to bend them.

Yep I've spent a shit load there too and despite the fact they're quite friendly to deal with they're just not on par with red eye's ability to properly package vinyls.

approx 5 vinyls from red eye = A pizza box mailer with 2x stiffasdick cardboard inserts WRAPPED in foam that protects the edges from scuffing
8 vinyls from chemical = standard mailer with no cardboard stiffners, all vinyls JAMMED in and warped upon delivery, packaging split open

Some of the aforementioned issues with bad presses are unlikely to be a fault of Chemical Records.

What was the fault of Chemical Records was sending me only one disc on Tempa Allstars 2 (after having a warped copy replaced) packaged only in a generic black sleeve.. horrible surface noise throughout. Then they tried to tell me Tempa were repressing them in black sleeves.... errrr the warped copy you sent me before was in an official 'Tempa' sleeve so you're clearly chatting shit. Had cost me $56 to send back warped records once, and they've sent me replacements when I've asked for refunds too... gwarn Red Eye!!

Yeah quite a few ofthe black box discs have a centre hole too big so the records has no friction on the turntable... i used the age old trick of putting tape on either side and "popping" it over the pin, however not exactly ideal and doesn't really work that well. Just checked though and to be fair, chemical do have quite a few releases that redeye don't (e.g kromestar & Jay 5 - electric avenue) so i'm just gonna have to be extra vigilant when i do make an order from chemical and end stuff back straight away if it's not perfect. I shall certainly be using redeye from here on out where possible though !!!

Some of the problems here, as someone else said, aren't our fault i.e. bad pressings/warped records/centers bring too tight/wide, and so on, we can't check every single record to make sure it's alright! However, if you aren't happy with something, tell us!! Seriously, call or email Chemical and someone will sort it for you, if you get a warped record, we'll swap it. If you get a scratched one. we'll swap it. Don't wait until you're really pissed off, just tell us if you're not satisfied!

Warped records are definitely the fault of the store mate (excluding those ones were they're received from the distro already warped)... as I've said the poor packing methods your store utilizes cause the records to warp (8 discs jammed into a single thin mailer is just not on)

In regards to that particular batch I'm mentioning, I actually bought a exact replacement at the time of receiving the warped discs at my own expense and requested a refund after having to send them all back (which incurred a cost of $56) but instead your store sent me a replacement batch (which I had already organized myself). When I received my replacement batch the vinyls were packaged in exactly the same manner and all warped again. Everything was sorted out eventually, but after that sort of run could you honestly say you wouldn't make a permanent switch to a store that have demonstrated themselves to be superior in every way thus far?

I'd be tempted sure, 8 records in one mailer is crazy and I'd complain if they arrived warped, sounds like we tried to send you another batch without question ( although you did request a refund ) but if it got resolved I don't want to go over old ground, I don't work in customer services!

Anyway, I hope you return to us one day!

It's a long winded story and I'm glad it got sorted it out in the end. There were never any difficulties with the customer service. As someone else pointed out, different online stores hold different stock and I wouldn't necessarily hesitate to purchase again from your establishment from time to time I suppose.

Anyway back to the point of this thread... currently going on my longest run of not buying any records (about 2 weeks now) since I started collecting.. I've got around 8 i want this week tho, definitely a few good new ones!
