Massive in FL Studio

Post by unwind » Sun Aug 28, 2011 3:54 pm

I'm looking to buy massive within the next few days but I'm just a bit wary about the compatibility with FL Studio, especially when it comes to automation as this is obviously a hugely important part of production...

Does anyone use massive in FL Studio? And if you do, are there any problems you encounter with compatibility/automation?

Thanks in advance

I use massive with FL and it works just fine for me.
i haven't really tried to mess around with automation of it though, but from what I hear it's fairly simple.
Tracks coming.

Massive is a VST (or whatever form you get it in) so it is designed to be compatible with any DAW that supports VSTs, including FL. Massive's automation features all work fine, and you can use FL's automation features to automate the parameters in Massive as well.

The automation has just got an extra step compared to a native vsti in FL.

While in massive, click the top right arrow in the wrapper window and click browse all parameters. Click (in massive) whatever you want to automate and it will jump to tat parameter on the left hand side of FL. You can then right click that and edit events/create auto clip as usual.

Works like a charm and isn't that complicated to do.

TL;DR Yes, you can automate just fine in FL.

In my experience it works just fine. If I need to automate something I usually create an automation clip based upon the Tools>Last Tweaked menu option or sometimes I record the feature I'm tweaking using the Record>Automation&Score option.

Check around though, I really wish I'd gotten a different synth or even just stuck with sytrus.

Though it is a good synth, though the amount of people talking about FM8 and how good it is makes me think.

Also, check out harmour. It's an FL plugin and I'm pretty sure it's pretty close to release.

Yeah I've read about that harmour you know, might give that a look aswell. I know there are other great synths out there but for the style of music im making at the moment massive really cuts the butter. I've been looking at sprectrasonics aswell but their synth omnisphere is damn expensive...
