Serdar Ermis - Metal String
While the presence of "Metal String" will likely pause fingers flicking through racks and scrolling through pages of new releases, the piqued interest will hopefully flow over to Serdar Ermis's stellar pair of the original mix. In comparison to his labelmate he seems more quietly knowing, and quite unafraid to slow things down to skank them up a bit.
The original provides wonkiness in increments, with teetering, spidery keys, dragged-out handclaps, and what sounds like tweeting birds all weighted down and deeply inebriated. As the eponymous refrain is looped and messed with throughout, you realise that Cem Ermis's cunning lies not in the brash, but rather in more subtle touches: the slight filter on the hi-hats, the blink-and-you'll-miss-it rhythmic vocoder, all thepads and bleeps strewn with precision, the remix takes indead in other part then the original, are brothers but in their productions the styles is very different.
Fabio T. remix, merges bass instincts with progressive sensibilities this time and produces something that eagerly pushes a foot into both territories without properly establishing a firm hold in either, while it's certainly a solid groove.
