Started working on a new track after learning how to automate cutoffs on Massive. I know virtually no producers in person, so I figured I'd give it to you guys and get an idea of how you feel about it.

Ok, sounds very presetty, meaning it sounds like your using some stock sounds out yer synths without processing them, making them more 'yourself'. Using presets can be handy and quick, but to stand out from the unimaginative crowd, why not spend more time getting more unique sounds out of yer vsti's? The trance intro thingy is played out imo, but that is just my taste. There is no excuse being a beginner, just slap on more vst effects

I like the space the reverb on the kick brings, maybe have it duck the rest of the sounds through sidechaining, google it if you don't know what it is or how it works. Although it is short and work in progress, I like how abrupt the ending is currently...but if you continue this, variate the melodic theme through shuffling the notes, change up the sounds and add a solid bass. Just play around and make variations, something will always flow out of it.

You actually have something on your hands if you put more effort into the properties the sounds have. Add more sub-bass, make the over-bass more wobbly and robotic. Get rid of those weak leads and bring out the voice more. Don't be afraid to make the sound harsher and more distorted. Also, please do something about the drums, they need to hit harder and the snare definitely needs to have more impact. Wouldn't hurt to have some hats and crashes.

I'm not using stock sounds at all :/ I'm modifying them as much as possible, but it's just not working out I guess. I'll keep working on that aspect. I know the trance intro is completely overdone, but I liked it for this track xD

Normally, I WOULD sidechain the kick to a compressor, but with this track, I made an effort not to, since that's something I do far too often (see my track Another World... and most of the others...)

I want to continue it, but my main problem is where it's going, and how to get there. The drop is nowhere near as intense as I want it to be.

Yeah, I'm trying to figure out where to PUT the cymbals, or they'd already be there. More distortion sounds good, I could use that in the "drop". I'm terrified of turning up the drums because they peak in Logic, but when I bounce them, they're either too quiet or they're too loud, and the bounce never sounds like the version in Logic. Which is annoying.
