FL really is the best, I'm not even kidding. Usually, my posts are 90% kidding, but this one is 0%.

if i could make sense of the damn thing for two fucking seconds i'd love to invest in FL for writing and arranging .. long list of great stock tools plus Vsts
but i don't think i'd mix in it

i dunno why i just have a predisposition that DP sounds better and is more stable for mixing audio and using UAD plugins , forget about midi tho i'm starting to fucking hate my MIDI features.

FL is what I know therefore it is the best to me. Though as Cheeky said above, the sound drivers are annoying.
Abstrakt.

I love the FL
the only downside for me is how difficult it is to automate, and I think that really restricts me
i'll be working on something and be like "damn, now if I only I could do this with that and make it do this here" or something but it's such a pain in the ass I say fuck it and that's that

love the playlist though, makes chopping samples a breeze

You do realize that FL automation is easier and better than most others right?

Depends what you want automated in fairness. Most automation though is easy like a Sunday morning though.

I guess i'm only comparing it to ableton which i've seen done very easily in tutorials, and it looks a lot smoother. I just hate making an automation clip, it automatically slaps to the top of the playlist, gotta drag it and trim it down, click click click find the equivalent percentage of whatever I want, I don't know maybe it is really easy and I'd just prefer a different way.
also, I hate how much just using one hogs cpu in something like massive, and if I want to automate multiple things at once my cpu can't handle it at all.

edit: using the edit events mode is way easier, it's just not as precise. I wish you could make smoother lines and that'd be golden

In edit events, I make perfectly smooth lines using the LFO tool (Alt+Q) and manipulating it into a suitable curve...assuming you're talking about curves.

Has bossman automation. Only thing I'd like is ghost copyable automation clips. The "automation moves with midi items" is enough for now but it'd be nice to have it contained within an item and be able to cut out the copy/paste part.

Logic abuser here, but one thing I do give props to Ableton for is that when you tweak a parameter, its automation lane automatically comes to the 'forefront' and is eassssssssssssy to auto. Logic is similar, except the automatically appearing automation.

Ableton is far superior IMO.
I used to be an FL user but after giving Ableton a bash im hooked.
The one thing i do miss from FL is the Granulizer.
