I used to be well into metal, now I've got tons of CDs I never listen to. I just broke out the Meshuggah last week though. Nothing is just so sick! (Somebody needs to do a dubstep remix of Straws Pulled at Random.) People already mentioned Tool and Dillinger Escape Plan. I used to like Nile a lot, but I haven't listened to them since back in the day. Also no one's mentioned Death. The Sound of Perseverance has some nice guitar and drum work, and well written songs too, unlike a lot of death metal.

Slipped my mind. If it didn't, I dunno what I was thinking. Death is about as metal as metal gets. :5:

anyone that claims to like metal and doesn't have Autopsy in their top 5....for shame
what is of value and wisdom for one man seems nonsense to another.

Here's mine:

1. Mudvayne
2. Slipknot
3. In Flames
4. Rage Against The Machine
5. Linkin Park (old! back when shinoda actually did something)
I'm dropping off LP and adding Tool...and if there was a 6 I would add the Deftones.

anybody ever peep this band Lightning Bolt? They're a duo.. i dunno if you'd call it metal. but whatever, it's heavy music. I'd call it heavy metal cuz i don't care for nit picking. I reckon they're known for like "noise-art-rock" or what ever.
To me, Heavy metal works for anything from Judas Priest to Death to Meshuggah to Slayer to Black Sabbath..

Although, to be perfectly honest Black Sabbath was a blues rock band with some dark lyrics.. oy, whatever but anyway Lightning Bolt fucking kick ass. A drummer and a bassist/guitarist who plays this bass that looks modded with guitar strings i think. Really cool song structures and blasts of energy and nutty vocals.

Never heard of them, but I might give them a listen cause your other bands are right up my alley. And there is NO WAY they are more fucked up than Dir en Grey's video for Obscure =P
