@specimen-yarp Sounds very trebbly to me. I'm getting lots of clipping too. Fucking filthy though man, where's the SUB?? haha :) v liquid stranger.

@bradicle - love that synth, some great chord progression, sounds kinda oriental, like panpipes. Where's the vocal from? Kinda euro cheesy for me but love the piano over the drop. Really well made mate. I'm not digging the vocal that's all I can say.

@hudson Sooooo soft and mellow. Wow truly awesome ambient stuff you've got going on there, how did you achieve that soft effect? REALLY digging this.

@budspecertron OK so I was listening to this, found the beat kinda repetitive, then the ARP hit and blew my mind. What synth? It's SOOO fucking tasty. Nice atmosphere in the quiet parts too, how'd you achieve that ?

@r3n3gad3 - NEEDS variation badly. Loving the cockney thug trumpets :)

@atticuh This is nuts, love the 8-bit sounds, reminds me of my sega master system. Some of the synth work is great, think the drums are way too weak.

Her's a remix for Emeli Sandé 's Breaking the law I'm working on. Kinda went for a NERO type vibe.. what do you guys think? Thanks very much! Truly inspired by all the wips here.

Thanks in advance guys n gals. :h:

@jtl thanks man as i remember its just a square layered on top of a saw and then some splitted filtering; the arp bass is just a saw with some tube and then eqed and tube on top; atmosphere sound was a free synth with a sample dvd i think it was something for engine2 :Q:

@ JTL - Sounds good, can see the "nero vibe" here. Personally i think the intro is a little long but that's just me, and i think it would add a nice change if the bass would hit the odd note an octave higher at some points. Overall very good.

@ atticuh - Very creative and sounds pretty original. You have some interesting sounds going on but i'm just not keen on the percussion, it sounds too...for lack of a better word "musky". I'm sure they are the sound you are going for however.

@ Standby - I love this, excellent production. I love the synth sounds, wish i could achieve this!

@ Jetpack - Really not my thing but i still enjoyed it. Great progression, really enjoying it at around 2:30.

My current WIP. Really struggling with the eq-ing etc. Been working on it for several days and getting pretty frustrated! :

@ Stranger_Sounds

I think the mix sounds great. Kick sounds killer. Maybe bring up the sub a bit after the drop. Vocals sound spot on.

@Hoborg Those samples are HILARIOUS. The drop is pretty sick too, I thought the bass should have a little more variation and have more sub in it. Other than that, good tune!
@SketchyDerek Your song reminds me of some early dubstep. Very heavy. Almost Coki-like. I wish I could make bass like that. If you wouldn't mind, please fill me in on how you made that! GOOD TUNE!
@Standby Sunset Beach is GREAT! It has that mellow, chill vibe to it, and those 8-bit sounds give it a kind of happy, light feeling. Great tune!

As for me, I've only been producing in FL Studio for about a month and a half now, I'm still murking about with making Dubstep but I've been trying to make some DnB. Here's a beat I made last weekend. I tried going for a kind of creepy vibe to it. I touched it up for about 30 min a day the past 2-3 days, and it sounds like this. It's a WIP, and idk when I'll be finished, but I'd like your guys' input before I move forward. Thanks!

@ atticuh - loved the intro and then at :53 my ears wanted to hear something different, like what you did at 1:05. i didn't really like that bit in between i thought it didn't really fit. smoooooth bass though, really liked it.

@ JTL - wow man. love this. intro was so nice, did you actually record that guitar in there or is it a synth? enjoyed this start to finish :4:

@ stranger_sounds - nice drum work and vocals, does sound a little weak after the drop though. diggin' the pads and melody. and that little blippy melody that comes in around 2:00 surprised me in a good way, nice little touch

started the intro to this a few days ago and posted it in here with no direction. then I found this remix comp and threw the vocals in there and I think it fits pretty well. 90% done I think, needs some finishing touches. how's the mixdown? and drum work? thanks in advance guys

@atticuh Man I'm really diggin this one ! I just love your sequencing and song structure, and I totally dig some of the chiptune influence you throw in there, and your melodic sense.

@Standby Those trumpets are SEXY!! Message me man, I wanna know how you made them!! Totally feeling the track, it's AWESOME brutha, nicely done. I do find it a tad repetitive but it's enjoyable.

@JTL I dig the vocals, percussion work, and the bass man, it's melodic as hell too, it's just ace, I really love it, nicely done.

I spent around 30 minutes changing arrangements and what not in this short clip, but tell me what you think anyway, just a rough idea :")

pretty nice, might want to apply some melodyne or newtone to get the vocal hitting the right notes...its fairly off-key. Drop is a bit thin, too.
...in my opinion

@atticuh reminds me of Final Fantasy at the intro. The drop comes in nice, throws my head off but I like it. The drums sound a bit lo-fi not sure if you uploaded it like that. I like it though.

@JTL That vocal fits really nice! I was expecting some massive drop, but what you've done fits beautiful. Really nice track you got there.

@stranger_sounds Burial type of feel to it. Digging this! That vocal sounds really nice. I'd drop that into a set if you got a 320 for me :p

@AndreiStephen absolutely epic man lol i love the drop cant wait to hear the finished product.
@ mikeyp nice build up and vocals man, i think im putting vocals in my next track im still a newb. :D

My second attempt at a dubstep track. started producing about 3 weeks ago so i'm still learning the ropes. just recently switched to ableton live from fl.

@acrap welcome to ableton. This is impressive with 3 weeks under your belt. NIce use of LFO, decent synth work. Too much reverb on the kick imho. Why not carry on the melody from the beginning? Work it into the rest of the track. I'm impressed dude. Well done, keep going!

@GV1 beginning is some real detuned chillout man.. Not sure about the wobble on the hi synth that comes in over the top. Think it should be constant, no wobble. Drums need variety too, far too repetitive. All in all though, this is a great jam.

@sniperdubb did you mean the lead bassline synth on my track? - your lead synth the constant needs some variety in it. Levels are a little off too, I'd lower that lead synth, annoys me more than anything (just my opinion). Like the percs though and atmosphere, let me know when you get further along!

@JTL Personally i think that i would add a bit more perc to this tune as its got some serious umpfh but i feel almost like its losing out because it does not have enough percussive patterns to really enthral me but still nicely mixed and that section before the drop is a delish build up keep up the good work mate

@acrap im liking the flow of this tune but i reckon aswell that there might be a little to much reverb on the kick and maybe for the section after the drop re mix the levels so that your modern talking/bit crushed section hits through a little harder than the carrying melody also i think there might be a bit of reverb on that synth aswell which kinda makes it less prominent but still at 3 weeks of producing dubstep you got the sounds down boy!

@GV1 Real nice chillaxed track think that it could be broken up a little more with some suspense and by that i mean maybe a gap of almost silence then build it back up, or on second thoughts that plus a really nice breakdown would complete your track keep up the good work vary your percussion a little more :)

@SniperDUB man this track is killing it percussion is tasty nice synth work this put you in the mood to get down and dirty think the song before the drop should just be quiter than the section after the drop but apart from that BIG

Heres my little WIP go easy as its still quite early days for the tune....

@sniperduub - Soul Eater : Not really my bag (baby) but sounds nice enough, certainly dark. The only thing I'd say is bring up the 1st bass (first in bar from 0:49) up.

@gv1 - Calm Before The Storm : I dunno why people were hating on the vocals, frankly I like them, and whilst the instrumental is good, I actually liked the vocal mix. Great atmos for sure (which reminds me where's the rhymes for "Boolean"? ;)

@acrap - You only just STARTED producing 3 weeks ago? How long were you using FL for before that? As I'm kinda impressed. If I never heard a "YOI" or "YOR" formant filtered sound ever again, I'd be happy - that's just a personal preference, but what you have here is great for your first tracks.

@jtl - Breaking The Law : Definitely a Nero feel here, like the synth progression pattern. I'd like to hear more feature made of the vocals, effected etc in the background of the main body of the track to give it grounding.

@masterjr - I'm thinking Moombahton when I hear this honestly, not hip-hop. Certainly dirty when it drops, and the percussion is interesting, like the little reggae style horns and piano. Lots of interesting variation in this honestly, I dunno what advice I'd give, I kinda like how it's got loads of ideas in it.

Here's my latest fiddle, it started as one track, then turned into something different as I was working on it. Only about 2 hours on it so far, not mixed, not mastered, and obviously, not finished :P

atticuh: your drums seem a bit muffled or something. maybe bringing them forth a bit in the mix would sound cool

jtl: im loving that synth lead. cool tune

andreistephen: i think your tune has real potential. maybe after the drop you could use the synth lead more sparingly and throw into the mix in bits in stuff between wobbles almost kind of skrillex-styleish

heres my WIP

are they off key everywhere or in certain spots, because I thought through the drop they don't sound too bad. and how would I go about doing that? if they're in the playlist as wav samples now would I have to correct it in newtone and then throw that in there and arrange them again (which took a lot of work to each clip, placing and what not) or is there an easier way? i'm a noob when it comes to working with vocals
