+1

My 11yr old never has anything to say.
I like it daddy.

Very helpful.
The other day I had a track of mine playing in the car while we were driving.
So I made a joke and said, "I wonder what genius wrote this track?"
So he says' "Why are you asking, don`t you like it because its the same thing over and over."

I just hung my head.
His ears are just not developed enough to understand EDM.
He`s still happy listening to the radio.
He likes Noisia though.

when he was 3 I used to listen to a lot of ambient, more psychedelic bass music.
He looked up at me and said, "This music makes my dreams come true."

I care about feedback I suppose, if its one person with the username 'troll292342' who says this is shit, then ill probably laugh it off..
I usually get extremely good feedback which surprises me as I don't really put the most effort in the world into production but if 100 people say its amazing etc. and 1 person gives a big paragraph of what they don't like then ill take that comment too seriously I guess its human nature but I just seem to take bad feedback to heart even thought 99% of feedback is good haha!

I think your use of "good" and "bad" is indicative of the problem feedback plays for many people.

Opinions are like arseholes GV1, I've found that when I took peoples feedback to heart and trying to please people, I always end up compromising what it is you I am doing. People always namecheck known producers because they don't have any other reference point to assign "quality" or something new. The ONLY purely objective input someone can give is about a mixdown, and perhaps a tracks progression or some instrumentation, the rest of it is purely subjective and coloured by that persons perspective on what constitutes "interesting".

That being said, I have found that people on DSF in general provide solid, meaningful feedback, and frankly someone taking the time to actually LISTEN to something you produced and give you feedback is the most valuable thing of all, because you can accept/reject it, and integrate it where it makes sense (i.e. the completely OBJECTIVE side of feedback). Nobody likes to be working on things and trying to improve without someone telling them if they are onto something.

You speak sense :D

As for the vocals, I've not forgot mate. It's just getting round to finishing the lyrics. I will get round to it. The vocals on the other tracks wasn't me, was Jimmy Davies Davies I was trying something for him, which spiraled off into a half complete track without the vocals.

I'm just so busy with my business and work and redecorating the house. Not even had time to switch on my new Lemur :( I'll hit you up on Skype when your on.

Have to refer to a teenager who completely and irrevocably changed our entire understanding of the universe:

This may seem strange, but sometimes I take the view of somebody who knows little of music as seriously as somebody who does. If your tune is enjoyed by someone with no formative musical experience, then its a success to some degree. I don't make tunes to impress people who wank over tritones, I make it to try and get people grooving on a night out therefore all feedback is of equal merit and musical knowledge or experience really doesnt matter unless its a technical issue with a tune.

This holds some truth. Afterall, people that know nothing about music are usually the ones that end up listening to it. Especially when it's people that don't know you. YouTube is great for this if you have a large subscriber list, or you do some spamming and label your tracks with catchy titles.

I show the girlfriend my music, but she's always saying "Thats really good" even when it actually isn't. I've purposely created junk to see if her feedback is generic. It is.

Feedback / criticism can be one of the most useful tools in making a track. There have been a lot of times where I just get so involved in a track that I lose the ability to look at it objectively and honestly can't tell if it sounds great or sounds like shit. Getting opinions regarding that is extremely valuable.

I listen to all feedback I get, and I appreciate all of it, but that also doesn't mean I consider all of it on an equal level of validity. Part of listening to feedback is deciding which of it you agree with and which of it you would rather ignore. Having this sense is absolutely essential for any artist, but it can be applied to all areas of life really (e.g. your relationships, your job, etc.). On topic, I've had tepid feedback on tracks that later got signed and resulted in great feedback from that point on. It doesn't mean the original feedback was wrong, but it's important to take into account WHO is giving you feedback - their tastes, interests, expectations, etc.

lol dude how much social networking do you do? (no disrespect)
Just curious cause your tracks have so many damn comments! :corntard:

I like the feedback...everytime I get a comment on a track I get excited!
Good or bad, it helps me understand how my track is being viewed by other ears!
