Technics 1210 sound issues?
Technics 1210 sound issues?
I recently purchased 2 new shure m447 cartridges and a technics stylus,s for my turntables. I had been using ortofon concordes before this and no problems but a soon as i had the new shures fitted i went to play a few records but found that only on one deck am i not getting the full sound through the right channel, the other deck has perfect sound with the shures. And when i swap back to the concordes everthing is perfect again, any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

So it's not a problem with the deck is it!?spill86 wrote:when i swap back to the concordes everthing is perfect again
Have you checked that you have plugged the cables from the cartridge into the tone arm correctly?
Re: Technics 1210 sound issues?
I had the same problem recently, it's probably the connectors on the end of the cartridge or inside the tone arm. Even a new shure cartridge hasn't got as good connectors as Ortofons so i would try stick with the Ortofons if at all possible. The sound quality you get with Concordes is blatantly better.
Re: Technics 1210 sound issues?
Yea all the cables are connected but im just wondering if the ortofons are hideing a problem thats only audiable with the technics stylus and shure cartridge, just wondering if anyone had the same problem and found a remedy?
Re: Technics 1210 sound issues?
Try swapping the needles from one deck to another and then you'll know if it's that needle cartridge that's fucked up or it's the contact in the arm. If your Ortofon's are working fine then it's probably a fucked up cartridge connector on the shure's. Ortofon's are the best imo. Solid product. Amazing sound.

You might want to consider cleaning the connector pins on both the tone-arm and headshell pickups with some Deoxit?
I also just read something on the Serato forums about differently spaced pins on m44s vs the concordes

Re: Technics 1210 sound issues?
SORTED! after a lot of cleaning and trying various different things i finally found the solution, it turns out that my tone arm stylus locking device may have a slight bit of wear so when i connect the stylus to it it needs to be held to the right until i have it locked in place, the sound is now perfect but i could probably do with replacing my tone arm in time, thanks for the help, much appreciated!
