DISCLAIMER: I KNOW THIS IS SLIGHTLY OFF-TOPIC BUT WANT SOME INPUT, BEFORE YOU START YOUR FLAMING :u:

Very old track I wrote (2004). I am just relistening to it, well because...and wondering, do you think I should spend the time dubstepping it?

Appreciate your input, thanks in advance:

Hey all. Here's a liquid DNB track I'm working on. What do you guys think? I'm pretty new to production, so I'm still figuring it all out. Specifically, how can I improve my bassline? It sounds a little flat to me. Also, general mixing/mastering tips? Anything you would add/remove/change? Thanks!

Guys, you gotta provide feedback on at least 3 people before you submit your WIP for feedback.

Valid, but I've given enough feedback over the past month or so to consider this a "gimme". ;-)

@deafblindmusic For 2004 its a great peice of work. Id say keep it away from the Dubstep vibe and keep it in the early 2000's dnb sound. Everything sounds pretty well arranged, could use some EQ work though

@ Manic Harmonic Great song! I dont really know how to give advice on this because i feel like its very different (a good thing) Sure anything could be EQ'd a little better. Maybe some echo arps here and there? Great work though keep doing what your doing. I like that its different, all the best music is :)

@ Cheeky BIG TUNE! Not a whole lot to say, mid and sub bass compliment eachother very well, great use of variation and the rhythm definitely complements the track. Very very good tune, id like to say im shooting for the same area you are with yours >:)

I posted this earlier and now have reworked the sub bass structure as well as the mid bass sound. Also added a 2nd drop. Comment the soundcloud I will return the favor :)

Hi again!

@ Crakasteven;
Straight chestrattler right there mate!
Absolutely love that bass. Big up!

@ Voodeedoo;
Nice sounds mate, fit well together and seem well eq'd.
Might need a bigger buildup, don't know, my 2 cents.
Love to dubsteppy break in it, real well put together!

@ Objekz;
Ez mate!
Pretty long and repetitive intro tbh, gets kind of boring I suggest shortening it abit?
Vocal seems really quiet aswell.
Try changing things, adding more melodies/changing the melody to make things more interesting.

@ R3N3gAD3;
Well hard to give some feedback to something so raw.
Main synth sounds kind of amateurish (?) try adding some distortion/reverb/ALL KINDS OF MAGICAL SPRINKLE DUST to it to get something heavy.
Also vary the rate from time to time to get some real cool swag!

@ Lucaskane;
Ez mate!
beautifull atmosphere you got there.
Love how the track is dipped in the lower frequencies.
Amazing dark atmosphere and all around great track.
Only downside (personally) is those hats, seem kind of "clean" compared to the dark track.

@ Applewater
Aaaawwww yeah!
I was already swinging my shoulders due to those vocals.
Nice build-up.
There's some hat (?) going on that seems to annoy me. Pretty gritty bassline aswell man!
Nice work with chopping those vocals!

@ Darj
I'm hooked to amen breaks so you can't do anything wrong there!
I rarely get goosebumps from a track but this one gave me on both arms and legs!
Absolutely love your track man props!
That pad (?) that runs in the back is giving the track such an emotional status. really nice work man.

@ Manic Harmonic
Love people that give wall of texts. Show that there are still people out there to help.
For your track, can't really find anything wrong. It has some strange vibe in it.
Seems to me that you crammed to many idea's into one track tho.
Seems like a really small mix actually. I don't know :D
All in all nice work tho! (horrible feedback, my apologies)

@ Acidrat
Layer those snares mate!
Get like 2-3 (even 4 if you're a badman!) decent snare samples and line em up with a little reverb and EQ to taste.
Intro sounds repetitive, add some different chords to it to give it some movement.
Step away from those highpitched notes, honestly. I know what you want to achieve but it needs alot more work on it.
Search for some "doctor P" tutorials on here, sure you can find something to your liking ;)

@ Specimen-Yarp;
Nice build-up.
Seems like those sounds need some smoothing up, they seem kind of raw to me.
Love the arrangement tho!

@ Cheeky;
Hahahaa I listened to this yesterday and I was like "Fucken sound's absolutely perfect".
Get me a 320 asap mate!

Now for mine:
I've been working on this one for a while and it's almost finished, just needs some tweaks.
However, after exporting it and uploading it to youtube there seems to be some rare interference with my sub.
I can't hear it in Reason, nor when I export it but when I upload it on Soundcloud it fucks up and gives this weird click in my sub.

Care to help me out here? (and also comment on the track itself without the fucking interference tho :D)

Thanks!

@deafblindmusic
I really dig this track Pitched Black. It's got an old school Prodigy / Crystal Method vibe to it. The first break is too mellow though. Your second break should be your first break, and make the second break even bigger.

@AMPR
There's way too much going on at the high end of the spectrum. Run this through a spectrum analyzer and figure out how to fill out the spectrum better. Needs more bass and mids, less treble.

@mikeyp
A little too slow. Also, typically in dubstep you swap between multiple basses and twiddle the knobs quite a bit. This is a little too static sounding. Change it up and experiment a bit!

So here's my latest WIP. It's liquid DNB, not dubstep, just fyi. The main thing I could use help with is the bassline. It sounds a little flat to me. How can I liven it up?

@ Crakasteven:
Pretty sick track! i really like the wobble you used in it, feels really unique.

@ Cubicle:

Sounds pretty cool, found it really chilled, but at some parts a bit slow for my taste. I might try adding in another drum loop and after say 32 bars switching to that then back to the first one after another 32. Not exactly like that, but i mean try to have more than one loop playing throughout the song. even if its something like adding in a double hat at the end of the loop a few times then a few times without it, ya know, something to give it a feeling of pprogression or movement :P Sounds great so far though!

@ deafblindmusic:
thats a really awesome track! i normally dont listen to trance and such, but i thought that one was really good! it has a lot of movement in it, kept it interesting! If you were to dub it, make sure that the drop had a lot of energy, it would need it to keep up with the rest of the song. :P might be worth dubstepping, but youd have to keep the energy thoughout or it might not seem right.

Now for mine, :)

I posted this WIP, and it got over 1000 views in the first 24 hours (:. It was a shock to me, cuz notmally mine get 400-700 after like a week. I'm working on the full right now, but i was wondering what i should put in to make it better, but not take too much away from it since it was already well loved :P.. Thanks in advance!

Hi im very new to the forums. (this is my first post.)
so whats upp!

im also an amatuer so take my advice with a grain of salt.

@pavvel..
shit sounds good man, has potential to be a high energy track i like that.
i would suggest you add some modulations to the bassline, switch it up a little but thats a givin.
it also seems to missing dynamics. IE some higher register synths. and some low bass for the track to ride upon?

@Dataloss- Very decent for someone who's just starting out!
@Pavvel- Try switching up the wobbles a bit, give it some variety.
@Sleight- Try a slow reece bass so give it more attitude.

So here's my latest dubstep WIP. What do you guys think? Also I feel as though its not dropping off heavy enough, any thoughts on how to spruce things up a bit?

@pavvel:
good sub bass rumble. maybe switch up the drums a little bit to add variation?

@sleightmind:
wow...diggin it! that sample is great, can i ask where you sampled it from (the horns)?
mix sounds nice already. sub bass seems to have a nice subtle movement. like the lyrics too, very hypnotic!

@dj cappa:
very interesting song. I really like the synths after the drop. I think they
can be improved however, maybe its soundcloud muddying up the low end. try to
bring the kick and snare out a little more, besides that great fuckin arrangement!

@AcidRat:
1-very generic but keep at it. try to tweak that sound even further.
2-i like this, better arrangement keep at it man

@specimen-Yarp:
Intro is killer! those are some haunting sounds man. great mix with those drums too. Good drop too.
You carry the atmosphere of the song very well. the only thing i can suggest is keep tweaking the drop sounds.

Quasi118 - the kick sounds good, dont know if yo did domething to it or its just a good original sample, yes the drop is not quite a drop at all, its a pose, the intro is good though, cant really give an advice on that one apart from saying that the synth after the "Drop" has to be lower and compressed.

Specimen-Yarp - Very good tune and the tune itself, but does not sound heavy enough, the main synth has too much high frequencies ( i think ) or maybe its just too loud, try to redo your mixing, otherways I really like it

AcidRat - dubstep-clip/s-MyHDI is a good idea, hope you will develop it by working on good mixdown and add few more synth in betweens and make yor drums more different, because seems like you get the idea of what groove is, and it is kind of groovy already but after hearing the same pattern again and again it gets boring. KEEP IT UP ! looking foreward to here some new stuff from you

Here is my tune for the feedback, Ive posted it few pages ago already, there was a big mixing problem, ive tryed to fix it hope its any better now, still wait for the most evil critics ) !
