i just cant fathom going on there, seeing all the shit your friends toss up on the wall or whatever... and seeing one of my close friends created a video, or a music recording, or a painting, or what-have-you... and not acknowledging it. even if i don't like it, i always give my friends props for actually churning out a piece of work, that took time and effort... and i don't get that from any of the people i know IRL.
I don't really get along well with people lately, truth be told.
A serious relationship i was in recently crumbled on account of me getting no support over the little things i do and take seriously. I understand that i'm not a major recording artist, but fuck, i MADE something. All they do is post youtube links to songs by professional artists that they like. and entire networks of friends, 20, 30 people gather round that and relate over it, rate it, enjoy it, chat about bullshit underneath it. I create something from scratch and it basically doesn't exist to them. Sorry to continue my tangential personal rant, but as you might have guessed, i have no place else to get it off my chest. It's more about me being misunderstood and overlooked by everyone around me IRL, than it is over-saturated EDM scenes. sorry 'bout that. But in a way it's similar. I don't want the world's recognition... i want people who have real life relationships with me to appreciate the bits that actually make me who i am.

So even though people feel we are over saturated and we are reaching our threshold we haven't even begun to see the serious monetary rewards and the artistic fulfillment of having people go mad and enjoy our music.

 i think you mis understood what i was getting at, i didnt mean it to generate a whole "how are we gonna get famous" thread cos its impossible. I was more celebrating the fact that theres so many quality producers out there, much easier to find great tunes, the downside to that being its harder to get your stuff heard whatever, but im not especially bothered by that

mostly I was talking about what by Jedeye posted from Dom Kane's statement. I wasn't talking about "being famous" I was talking about getting your tunes heard which you say you are also talking about to some degree and seems to be an ongoing theme in here and other forums. Most producers I know personally want to make a modest living off their art so they can continue to be artists, pay their bills comfortably and not be stuck in some shit job for the rest of their lives (i don't think many musicians care to be famous). I was just sharing some interesting facts that I know and blew me away so I thought they were relevant to the discussion. If they are not then fine, it's just conversation... and the internet at that.
There's nothing wrong with trying to be your best at whatever you do, despite what the internet meme's say.

Yes there is amazing talent out there, it's fucking rediculous.

Just nod your head and play along
Never tell 'em what inspires you
I bet my fans know me better than my friends do
Because my friends don't pay that much attention
The fans memorize every single sentence
Which makes them far too smart to ever start a friendship
I need to start writing pieces about other people's problems
'Cause strangers are starting to get worried

i think its a good thing, cus its really pushing people to make something that wouldnt just be a floor filler or whatever, but to make a great piece of music, rather than an 'instant hit' as it were. that said, the brosteppers lap up the same old shit every single time..

i feel much better sharing my tunes with people on the internet 2day especially on a forum such as this cos then you know the people who are hearing them have a similar taste aswell as not having the connection neccessary to get too offended by criticism

I remember my ex girlfriend listening to my tunes and calling them shit lol, wasn't cool :corncry:

Nah, not an emo cigarette at all man. After reading what you said, I totally agree. It's especially worse when you know the famous artist in question is really total crap. But that stuff gets made up for by the occasional person who hears your stuff and goes craazy haha!
