My wife lets me produce and is my number one fan yay! shes always front row raging shows too! She even gave up half of her extra room in the house for my studio. She was like "you need to get out of that basement lets move your studio" it was awesome and now i have a real studio space not just my dingy basement. I never really had a problem with her and my music. I dont ignore her and her needs she lets me produce. Good thing i married a basshead that can appreciate good music (all genres) and doesnt listen to top 40 really at all!

Ruskos advice about sending her out shopping/nail salon is a great way to make her feel special and get some decent time in on the DAW.

I live with my girlfriend and she's always really supportive of my productions. I pretty much spend most of every day doing something music related, wether it's reading net/magazines/books, sorting through samples, fucking about in Reaper with synthesis or some kinda loop, practicing effects processing or working on an actual tune (not to mention spending a lot of time on here). She's never had a problem with my infatuation with music.

She listens to things I've done and although she doesn't really know about the science of production she always gives constructive feedback about wether something grooves well or not or wether something isn't sitting right e.t.c. She's an old school Aerosmith fan, like's her hard stuff as well as some more melodic stuff and has a vibe for old 90s club music (she's a child of the 80s so was coming of age in that whole movement). At first a lot of the kinda stuff I listen to she really couldn't get in to, oddly enough the more hardcore stuff she really likes (Tech Itch - Pressure drop or Machine gun 16bit remix for example ) Which is just epic! She's more recently gotten into the more groovy Dubstep shit too and the other day i caught her boppin with her head doin the hand bounce too haa! best moment ever!

I couldn't have asked for a cooler Girlfriend really, I've never had an issue with trying to balance my producing and my relationship, the two gell well.

It's all about compromise IMO, you can have a hobby and spend as much time as you need on it, as long as you don't neglect other things in your life that are important to you and respect that your time is important to other people too. I balance my time well by sitting down watching a film on a night with her, or going into town with her and bein cool when she wants some shoes or a new dress e.t.c. Or chillin down playing a bit of computer with her (about to do that in a minute actually ) Or go and make her a cuppa and a zoot so she can watch LA ink or something while I fuck about with sound. Compromise innit. It's about finding the kind lady that's grown up and sound enough to respect your shit and give you the space when you need it as long as you give her the same respect and let her know she's on ur mind by doin shit that shows her that, whatever that may be.

Props to epic girlfriends!! I couldn't deal with a needy girl that wanted you 24/7, Lucky I got who I do really.

Longest relationship was.. a week? Never had a proper "girlfriend," whenever I get too close I either lose interest, get paranoid or scare her away, or some such bullshit. I rarely 'click' with anybody.
The fact is I just don't like most people and find them to be useless boring wastes of space. Most people I meet don't even have interest in art or science, let alone practice it! FFS what are they all living for. slaving away at menial jobs and taking drugs like lunatics. dumbasses.
BUT, the closest I have gotten to 'love' has been inspiring to no end-- I'm hopeful for the future.

So litterally have just mutually ended a 2 year relationship because of my otherhalf now living in london for uni and being unwilling to try a long distance relationship!

Im feeling like absolutely crap, a random mixture of emotions and tbh will do for a while!
Its kinda odd tho! (as you can probs tell cos im posting on a random forum!)

But for aaages, I have been suffering from a musical dillema in that I had no inspiration to produce everything and everything to me was sounding crap!

This tho, has kickstarted me into writing down random lyrics, bits and peices of melodies and just general ideas. It feels bad to kinda of exploit the idea of my breakup, but I can help but from this I will produce truely heart felt music,

Am I just being a bit of a gayer or am i not alone in this train of thought?
