MY SELECTAH!!

thats a tune

but out of curiosity, as a dj when you play this as your first tune, and considering its 10+ minutes long, what was the kind of mix you'd do??

i cant help but think if i played this i'd stand around twiddling my thumbs for 6minutes before doing anything!
I'd filter the low bits out verrrry slowly. Definitely one to be carefull with indeed.

I played my first set the other week, opened with Portishead - Humming from the drop.

Some dance to remember, some dance to forget.

Thanks bruz. Went alright :) more dancers would have been nice but got some props which was cool. And there were lots of people standing round the dancefloor nodding :P was on second @ 10pm. dropped some portishead, massive attack, vex'd -disposition, black sun empire, matty g, cruel culture - future and suchlike then rolled the tempo right down at the end for some dj krush more massive attack and offwhyte, into a real dark slow 44 number. played a fair bit of my own shit too. Was so nervous i couldnt really enjoy it, looking forward to next time tho :)

Great thread. I think something a bit different usually goes down well. Kode9 opening with Regulators at DMZ 6th Birthday was just epic.

Reggae/Dub is usually a good mood setter. I know "Dance of the Vampires - The Scientist" is about 137bpm or something

Yeah I did, and to Vulva:
I think it gets the ball rollin fast man! And works well as a highlight too, I think it can be a little interchangeable with return II space once you bump the bpm up a bit
edit: Theif in da night is great too, no dickin around waintin for an intro. Also the slugabed remix of starkey's stars is good for the start of a 2am set
