I really need to sit down and figure out Operator and the other Ableton instruments

i rarely use the other ableton synths, it's really worth learning operator and any sound you can't get out of one of them just get an instrument rack and stick a few in there and generally problem solved.
i use the ableton fx plenty too, the compressor gets used for say 70% of compression duties, i think it's a good workhorse compressor. simple delay gets plenty of use too, aswell as the phaser.

i rinse that shit outta operator too.. i used to like analog a lot, but since I figured out how to do PWM with two saw waves and an LFO, operator gets used for 95% of sounds

Three detuned super-saturated saw waves heavily side-chain compressed to the kick and EQ'ed to mold with the sub
Oh and some kind of single saw wave with a slight LFO on the pitch for a lead!

I use Operator for all my sounds. I've even had a legit copy of Massive for months, but I haven't really delved into it.
Does anybody automate the volume during the build-up to get a little louder slowly until the drop? I do this sometimes and then it goes back down once the buildup/downtime starts again.

Plus, you know... a waveshaper in between them. Couple formant filters. And like three limiters to finish it all off, that way it's really loud and cool and will bang in the club and shit. Bitches love when you put lots of compression on a track, it reminds them of having all your weight on top of them.

Nearly every tune I write has a piano in there, Ive got a few great multisamples I use, and all kinds of random stabs and bits off records - it just grabs me. Sample degradation is probably the other one, I often reduce the sampling frequency instead of using a lowpass or eq hahaha.

Sometimes. I use to automate the cuttoff before the drop.
