What's up everybody! been lurking for a while, this forum has come in handy quite often while honing my bass synth skills. Hope to have some tunes to share before too long.

Re: newcomers -> introduce yourself here
Greetings all,
I have been checking this forum for a while, but since I have been up until now an inactive music producer, I never felt the need to post or join, well the bug has bitten me again, and I'm getting back into music production.....
(skip the rest if you dont want to read a boring intro)
A little about myself, I was a university sound engineer student 11 years ago, but financial difficulty ended my degree a year short. After that I ended up in a hmmm indy rock band and we did support gigs for the libertines, which they asked us to do a support tour in 2002 with them. Unfortunately due to band members real life commitments, we were unable to do this (actually in hindsight glad about that... for reasons I wish not to discuss)
But to end a long story short... I quit making music shortly after that due to real life issues. But I am sorta back... I say sort of as I have little chance to make music, and my creativity is very low, but I miss it, and it takes my mind off the real life shit.
Now I know I have loads to re-learn.... damn you guys really have pushed the digital boundary
and I guess so have the software makers
Well 2 months ago, I walked into my local Cashconverters.... they had an EMU-1820M soundcard sat on a shelf for over a year... priced at £150.... and I dreamt of owning that... but on that day they had reduced it to £75... Now I'm thinking hmmmm.... thats very tempting
but to my luck it was missing the cable to attach the box to the card, mhm yes, here was my bargaining point.. they checked the creative website... and said it would cost £20 for the cable... which I managed to get them to reduce of my price... I got the beast for £55!!!..... Works like a dream using a network cable from the Poundshop..... FFS I'd have payed hundreds and more for something like that 10-15 years ago
So here is my kit list off the top of my head... wont list it all just the better shiz..
EMU-1820M soundcard
Shite slow PC running Windoze7
novation Nova
Novation Bass station KB (sadly has developed a fault)
Roland Juno 106
Roland RE-501 (sublime reverb.... with the love of tape delay)
Roland MC-307
Korg shitetribe - A1
KORG DW-8000 (seriously an under estimated synth, sure has a lack of full midi control and the interface is awkward, but its sound is special and so cold and dark....)
Yamaha TX something or other, an FM module
and stuff I forget to mention...
I have a few other bits and bobs, but none will work with the latest version of windoze.. like my 4in 6 out midi interface, meh... time moves on
the laugh is I am having to mix on a set of 2.1s PC speakers... I must sort that shiz and soon
I will add notes, as I am not a dubstep producer, although I totally admire the production and effort, and skills used to make it, which is mainly why I am here.
I'm here to talk hardware, software, and learn new skills, been out of the loop for so long, it feels like I am reborn
I know hardly anything again, but I am picking it up fast. I do like dubstep a lot,
I have set my heart on Ableton, I used to use cakewalk when I last did music, but meh the new sonar..... its nothing like the old cakewalk, so after reading on here about ableton, and looking on the web etc, I felt it was what I was looking for, and it just keeps on surpassing my expectations
Oh well thats enough of me boring you...
I look forward to reading posts, and contributing if I can
Lots of respect to you all,
Arthren

Re: newcomers -> introduce yourself here
Hi, I'm new but really for the sake of my little brother. I mean, I really like dubstep, but my brother is turning sixteen in January and is obsessed, like CRAZY for dubstep and for his birthday I really want to take him to some sort of dubstep (concert?). And not to sound like an ignoramus, but does dubstep have actual concert concerts? Or is there something else? Because I'm trying on the internet and not much is coming up.
I want to surprise him, but I can't if I have no idea what I'm doing...

Re: newcomers -> introduce yourself here
Hey my name is John and I am totally new to dubstep, and my friend who frequents here introduced me to some deadmau5 and Bloody Beetroots and Skrillex (Though according to him it's not true dubstep, its "gorestep" or something) and I have to say, I love it. Even though I am a huge fan of hard rock, I love dubstep because of its epic bass lines and sick beats. At dubstep forum I looking to meet others that like dubstep and hopefully be introduced to new artists and songs and such. Thanks for reading my introduction.

Re: newcomers -> introduce yourself here
Well hello there everyone, I'm Otitis Media. Been making electronic music for 7 years, gone through a couple genres. 2-step, then Drum n Bass, then hip hop, then dub-step. Drum and bass was the biggest obsession at it's time, but Hip-hop and Dubstep are my main focuses nowadays.
I use FL, and always have. Stuck on 9 now though, not moving.

My alias is GT, I'm an experienced video editor, and also a producer. I make videos of probably the nastiest and most raw dubstep my computer can withstand. Here is a teaser of what is yet to come.

Re: newcomers -> introduce yourself here
Hi All, just joined and thought I'd introduce myself. Like my username says I'm Joe and currently living in Perth, Australia. I've really been getting into dubstep lately and am keen to find some new music. I'm not really a big forum poster but it's something I'd like to change.

Re: newcomers -> introduce yourself here
Hi, been lurking here for awhile, decided to finally post. Got into dubstep around 07, been obsessed ever since. Started collecting vinyl recently and absolutely love it. That's about all I have to say...
Re: newcomers -> introduce yourself here
I dunno why i don't come here more often than i do. I've been playing dubstep for about 2-3 years now. located in Cincinnati. my proudest DJing moment was probably opening for Joe Nice, what a cool guy.
i produce with Ableton and Reason,
I've got a blog where i review new releases in my signature below.
glad to have a place that appreciates the sub sound as much as this forum here, conversations with most people from my hometown about dubstep degenerate into people amazed at the midrange stuff that usually just gives me headaches....
