A New way of writing songs I think I just made up
I've been meaning to try this, and I still haven't, but I will in a few minutes.
I'm always "beatboxing" music. Melodies, drums, wubs, songs, etc., and I came up with this idea a few months ago. Since beatboxing is very "spur of the moment" (for lack of a better word), it makes for creative stuff that maybe you can't come up with while in your DAW thinking about all this other stuff. So what I think would be interesting to do is to get a mic and record you beatboxing something, and then go create it in your daw, just to see what happens.
Idk, I'mma try it and see, I think it could be a very good way of making music, at least for me.

not actually recording the mouth sounds mind you... but singing something, anything, then recreating. works well even for coming up with ideas for manipulating vocal samples

really good idea. sometimes i have a melody in my head and sing it back to myself over and over while simultaneously trying to figure out what notes they are? i'm really bad at recognizing what sounds correspond to each note so trying to do both is extremely hard. never thought of recording my voice, then focusing straight on matching the pitch as opposed to trying to do both.

Yeah, it's basically doing what you do except recording your voice and then matching the notes

i dont think u made this idea up chad lol
tons of ppl do this. actually nowaysj told me about this a while ago. you can also do it with drums not just melodies. record a beatbox rhythm into your daw and just line up the corresponding midi drum hit with the hit in the audio from the recording.

manic - a dictaphone used to be a mini cassette tape recorder.
Now it is a digital voice recorder of any sort.
My phone is all I need to get ideas down.
I don`t need a binaural recording of my ummphs uumphs, waaas waaas, wagga wagga, bloom bloom, ffftttts.

If it works for you then go for it, not something that works for me oweing to lack of recording equipment :') Although once I had a mate say make XY sound from XY tune and make a new song with that sound, and it led to some decent tune making, which surprised me.

I read that James Brown did that and his musicians had to figure out what to play from the sounds he made. lol
You could speed up the process and just process your own voice
