I went into there westfield store and asked why they didnt show frequency range and got 'because frequency range isnt important in headphones....'
New then and there they were a pile of shit
I love my HD 485's, affordable, beautiful sound, and they are the most comfortable ive ever worn:

Lead is a little long for general listening but you can replaace that easily for no more than a fiver.
I wanna try ther £1000 headphones though

Re: listening headphones
For production I use Shure SRH-840's but for listening (and sometimes production, depending on how you like to monitor your tracks) Ultrasone headphones are beasts and are very well known for their bass response and fidelity as well.

Re: listening headphones
I just bought a pair of Bose AE2... They are great for classical / jazz music, but besides that I think I would have done better with some Sennheiser or Grados Headphones. I had a giftcard, but I am thinking about returning them to get another pair.

Re: listening headphones
I see this debate in the same light as someone asking what kind of decks to buy......Sennheiser HD25 MK2 are the Technics 1210's of headphones.... Best £145 i've ever spent.... they're comfortable, nice snug size and the sound quality is 2nd to none. You might not want to produce or even DJ at this stage but these headphones are built to last and are brilliant for use as listening headphones too.

Re: listening headphones
For listening headphones, definitely in-ears. Cheap, good bass, and decent durability (usually). Most in-ears should be decent. Brands can be deceiving. I've owned cheap NZ$15 discount store in-ears which sounded better than my Beats by Dre in-ears.dmisreal wrote:thats not in my price range but thanks

Re: listening headphones
Are you not happy with the XB500s?
I have a pair of these that I picked up in NYC, they are pretty decent for the money I guess: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Eskuche-33-Ear- ... 186&sr=8-4
If you want to go the in-ear route (and it might not be a bad idea), then maybe these? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Klipsch-S4i-Hea ... 421&sr=1-5

I'm going to get torn apart for this, but honestly, for cheap, in-ear headphones, the JVC Marshmallows are a good buy. The bass is surprisingly strong and you can always Kramer mod them.

The JVC headphones are pretty good. Good bass response as you say
I use 'em for the everyday commute

Re: listening headphones
My HD25 cable keeps breaking on me probably due to using them out and about, getting bored of forking out for a new cable on the reg so i need some headphones (preferably not in ear) that are fairly small/look good. Price range up to £100. Hit me.
EDIT: Its just my mixer this time, my cable is fine. Scratch above post.
