massive reaction spinning dubstep this weekend. . .

Post by tone.def » Tue May 29, 2007 5:14 am

so i've got a weekly residency at this posh sort of lounge here in the city. usually play rare groove, dub/reggae, downtempo, afrobeat, brokenbeat, etc. usually get a good open minded crowd, music heads etc. so lately i've been throwing in a couple dubstep tunes late in my set, but last night i dropped a mini dubstep set earlier in the evening and shit went off!

ffd - cay's crays (digital mystikz remix)
loefah - ancient memories
coki - officer
mrk1 - sensi skank
bug - jah war (loefah rmx)
loefah - disco rekah
digital mystikz - eath a run red

the place has a pretty good system with a nice sub-box on the dance floor and it sounded sooo good! unbelievable reaction. "yo, holy shit what is this!? i've never heard anything like this in my life!" feels good to convert at least a few people every week. :D

I am attempting to convert my mates to dubstep, in my efforts to do so i am taking one or two of them along to Subloaded in Bristol. They have no idea what awaits them.

Nice reaction.

I've had the privelige of playing dubstep, without subwoofers, to a group of Romanian birds who like Beyonce and Britney Spears. At least the two Turkish men in the corner tapped their feet...

i know i been thinking that for years lets test our subs with some bait bassline house.... errrr no... some Loefah lows will do your system justice...

Next show i'm gonna dish a load of mix cds out to the other stands methinks! about time dubstep got proper car mod scene representation...

its funny cos ive played those for some couple of friends at a regular private party, so everyone was playing their stuff and i played my fucking dubstep rocking beats and actually people loved it and some of them are now seeking it.When i dropped the 1st one their reaction was impressive cos most of them are fat freedy's drop listeners and DMZ's remix is gorgeous.
Suddenly, there was a terrible roar all around us, and the sky was full with what looked like huge bats, all swooping and screeching and diving around the car, and a voice was screaming:
Holy Jesus. What are these goddamn animals?
