i know people think 'bass music' is more integrating of all the different parts and whatever but it's just such a shit name. i reckon sub-low would have been a much better name than either...

Not too worried about what someone wants to name the genre, I'll continue to call it what I want to call it. The music is more important than the label.

i reckon they should just do away with genres on these sites and list everything by bpm... might make things a bit more eclectic?

All these bass genres all stem from uk bass culture anyway, ukg, grime, funky, dubstep etc.... It's part of the natural progression that a sound gets jumped on, given a name and then peaks in popularity only to be considered passé a
Month later, I remember 2003 times ppl were smirking at me for making 2 step beats, now everyone's on them again. Is a good thing tho, keeps it all fresh.

I understand wanting to escape the dubstep name, but bass music is shit. It's like calling it drum music, just doesn't make sense.

The word doesn't mean shit anymore. Actually, if I see it on a record, it kind of turns me off. Makes total sense

its just a marketing ploy to remain "relevant", there will always be dubstep producers now that youngens have grown up with it, whether it remains at the forefront of uk music scene is another question, it will most probably shrink, with only the big boys left to keep up the name.
