Triphosphate - 8 Bit Avenger (Chiptune and Dubstep VIP)

Post by Triphosphate » Thu Oct 06, 2011 8:31 am

Hey guys! I've been messing around with trying some chiptuney type stuff and I have to admit it's a lot of fun.

Here's a pair of tracks for you to enjoy, first is the chiptune song that started it and second is it's dubstep remix. The VIP is still a work in progress as far as mixing. My ears are very tired, they keep telling me to raise the mids but I don't think I can trust them. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated and returned in kind.

Love the filtered reduxy transitions, and its a good song overall. I thought chiptune/dubstep would be more popular by now. I feel like it's missing something though like vocals, a chord change, or maybe another synth.. just something to fill in the space. Also you don't need to pump up the mids but it could definitely use some or more mixing. Just message me if you want more specific mixing tips.

You think a vocoded/autotuned text-to-speech would fit? I think you just inspired me :)

How about Vocals, chords and 2 new synths?

damn, daft punk makes vocoders look easy... Then again this woulda been a lot easier if I had a talkbox.

Edit: you know, I'm just gonna throw this out there... if anyone would like to try their hand at singing into a talkbox, or singing and autotuning it, or some other method for accomplishing what I'm trying with this latest mix, I'd be honored to collab with you and feature you on this, and I'd owe you one forever.
