I second what Headlock is saying....contstant crackle like a dirty record right out of the bag....I order a lot of 20 records and have recorded them all on the same gear....the issue is only on the Carrier LP....such a shame as it is the entire reason I even order new wax....
you heard any other of this Blackdown? Could it just be a weak/thin press? It's a real shame.

hey trypset, i've just got some of the copies out i've got and across the whole LP there doesn't seem to be the kind of crackle you describe i'm afraid, beyond vinyl's normal warmth. it doesn't mean yours isnt crackly, it's just that it suggests it may be an individual issue rather than one affecting the whole pressing. sorry it's affecting your enjoyment of the album though

it's definitely the record. oh well, looks like I gotta send it back for exchange. Luckily I bought it from a German mailorder.
Here's some samples of my fucked copy, the crackle goes throughout the entire playing area on both sides. It's especially frustrating on the more quiet/emptier tracks as you can tell

The album is quite good, but feels very lightweight because it's very short (37 minutes-ish?) and also a lot of the tracks are pretty short as well (the two longest, It's Your Love and In Some Pattern are both among my favourites). A little underwhelming, but yeah, quite good. RA has the right score for it, even if their review doesn't seem to match up with the rating.

my equipment is alright. only this record sounds like shit and all others in my collection do not. bottomline, my copy is faulty and needs to be replaced since everyone else's seems to be fine.
that said, even a worn out needle wouldn't make the record sound like that. It would sound a whole lot more distorted but but not static ridden like this. the needle is about one year old and only used for listening.

Hey headlock
I suggest you return your copy to the shop you got it from, probably fairly swiftly as there's only 500 copies of the sully vinyl made. If you have any issues please PM me and I'll personally see if I can help out.

Really like this holds together well, think it's pretty brave putting out an album < 40 minutes but I'd rather 40 minutes of stuff I want to listen to than an LP that contains filler. Certainly two of my favourite albums of the last couple of years are pretty much the same length; Zomby Dedication and Mount Kimbie Crooks and Lovers both being around the 38 minute mark.

^^ feeling the short album format, theres some fucking classic 10 track albums about 40 minutes long (Nas Illmatic!!)...
so many albums could have been massive if someone weeded out 4 or 5 or 6 tracks and just kept 10 of the nicest cuts
Still really feeling this one, been absolutely battering it too

ATM i'm completely obsessed with Trust. It's got that hopeful beauty, and DIY sound that Hardcore circa 92 had. In the overproduced world of music we live in i think creating a basic vibe is often sadly overlooked, so i tip my cap to you.
Someone is going to have to really turn it out for this to not be my album of the year.
Onemans track list is another mans shopping list...

I think its one of the freshest albums I have heard in a while, and this guys work stands out so much to me yet he is so underrated. What do you lot think of the album and sully in general? why isn't he mentioned more?

Damn, this record covers some genre-turf. When Scram first came on I thought I had gotten switched to a Wiley track.

Just bought the album and .... yes... like Trypset said.... a load of horribly LOUD crackling right thru side 2. GAAAA!
Plus - right at the beginning of side 2 when the bass comes in there's a load of distortion esp. on the bass.
Guess I'll take it back tomorrow. Lucky i know the people in the shop.
Other than that S.1 was sounding good. One of my favourite producers.
