Ok cool raw loops will be plentiful.fills too..but what's a one shot? Sry I'm primarily a jazz drummer that just recently started playing dubstep.

A one shot is just a single hit of a drum..

So just a standard hit of the snare on its own for example.

Its what most of us use to construct our beats but as I said in an earlier post; its easy enough to extract those from breaks/loops

Also, you're going way above an beyond, do you have a paypal for donations or something? I'm not loaded or anything but if a bunch of us send you a buck... :W:
Well the studio is really top notch and my friend is the head engineer there so I'm guessing he will set it up however I want but to answer your snare question yes. Almost all sessions I do double mic all the drums excluding the kit so I imagine it will be the same for this.

As far as pay pall goes I might make one if people really like it and stuff really I just wanna give back to this forum and promote my dub drumming a bit. This forum has really helped me out ya know!

BIG THING..how do I offer the loops to people? Sound cloud or is there a better way?

Put them in a pack and offer them on freesound... Downloading individual loops/samples/ect from soundcloud would make my head spin.

Well you can make a big track on soundcloud out of the loops and we canchop them up ourselves, too. But freesound seems more logical.

be best to snip them into individual wavs, label them simply and logically, and .rar/.zip them up ... then up to whatever file hosting u can sort out. A soundcloud demo would be nice, just to make sure they sound pretty good before donating. cuz i would absolutely donate, given their quality is alright. Not expecting perfection, but you know....

In return for playing the drums on my friends personal rock album for free he has offered to let me use
The studio he works at for a 5 hour day at no charge (studio drummers don't come cheap) and I'm thinking
About recording some loops/sample to release for free to use as a promotional tool. They will be really high
Quality and unique for sure but I'm wondering do people look for this kind of thing? Would u consider using them?
I'm thinking this is a good idea but I may be way off..also

What sounds should I go for? More realistic drum sounds or put them through some heavy processing?

What should be the middle or recorded tempo for the beats?

Should I do more loops or single drum samples?

Thanks, I know that's alot of questions but any help is appreciated!
You've got 5 hours. Record as much you can (loops, single hits, different tempos, processed, unprocessed).

And I'm definitely interested in getting that pack from you :)

Cheers,
rB

HIHAT GROOVES SECONDED!!!
the natural opening/closing sound is something i really miss when just pasting together oneshots of hihats.
Perfect for me would be a big set of of short(1/2 - 2 bars) bare hihat grooves with minimally processed sound.

Oh! and f you could get some soft felt head mallets and beat som stuff with those that would be cool.

Really awesome idea and so nice that you want to share!

Hey guys just a quick update, I'm going into the studio to do the professional stuff tomorrow and will get the studio for myself either Tuesday or Wednesday (it depends how long the hired session takes) so I should have the pack together soon. Thanks for all the ideas u will be getting most of the things you listed. Also I'm thinking about doing full song drumbeats in the future so if anyone's interested let me know. I'd probably charge for that tho, like 5 dollars for a full on head to toe drum track that's one of a kind and a dollar for an intro lick and a drop lick. I'd also do it for free if you would share song ownership ( like a collab). Just a heads up if anyone's interested.
Free samples/ loops comming soon!

No it's not off its just taking FOREVER to cut up. See I thought I would have an engineer to assist me with the takes and effects and editing ect. But the head engineer jut took me in their logic studio room, said " you have 5 hours, go" he then hit record in logic studio and pointed me to where the drums are. After he gave me a dat that was 5 hours and 36 minutes! The thing that bugs me the most is the 22 minutes of silence at the beginning while I set up and tuned the drums. I feel like that time could be used better. But yea it took 2 days to get my friends tape reader ( I don't have anything for this ancient looking style tape he gave me lol) then I had to figure out how to hook it up to garage band ( yes garage band, I'm a drummer ok!!) so now I just have to go through all the tape. I have pulled out about 12 so far but I bearly broke 20 min mark with listening. I think I'll release the ones i pulled tomorrow since u asked but they are very similar because of the natural progression of a 5 and a half hour recording. Between drum covers, trying to learn how to sequence my own dub tunes to drum too (nightmare) and trying to finish this semester in school I have alot on my plate.
But don't worry bro, I didint just drop it. It's comming.
I'll try my best to pull the first 10 and get em up tonight. I'm really trying to do a drum and bass cover today 2 so it could be late.

Wow i admre the effort you put into this!
5 hours is a lot of content even with big gaps between stuff.
Didnt mean to stress you man, Im just excited about this.

Id be eqally happy about samples released bit by bit or all samples when theyre done.
