Looks shite, looks like you've totally missed the point of what dubstep is about... go and watch 'bassweight' and learn some history

also, you live in sommerville! you should be filming at the BASSIC nights here in boston if you want proper dubstep. over the last few months we had Mala, Pangaea, TRUTH, and Silkie, plus Pearson Sound later this month; they've bee on it since day dot -

There are also tons of other bass music nights popping around town from camps like SUBduction, UnHeardUv, Banana Peel, MMMMaven with local talent like AxH, Prism, Doctor Jeep.

Aaaaand, as a shameless plug, I'm opening up tonight at Diva in Davis Square:

I think his trying make a documentary about the american brostep scene if your dead set on heading in that direction atleast call it a brostep documentary and not deface the good name of dubstep with that broshit noise :6:

pretty much sums up everything that i don't like in that video, but to a budding brostepper that's probably really cool.. welcome to dubstep, the "new" cool thing for cool people.

Hey, it Phoenix Landing!! I love going there on Elements DnB night. Anyways, right now It looks good, but there doesn't seem to be a much here other than just random people talking about why they're there. I would do as skitz_0 said and try making it to one of the BASSIC or even SUBduction nights and speaking with the DJ's & visitors there. They've been doing it for years now so I'm sure they can tell you a lot about how the scene has evolved & grown over the years. They've also promoted different styles of Dubstep & even UKG.

Here's a short clip of MALA at BASSIC I took when he passed by a couple of months ago. He seemed pretty impressed by the event that night, so I guess it's worth something :) (sorry for the horrible sound quality):

i think that to be safe, you need to clarify what your intentions are and how to market your documentary. Calling something like this a Dubstep documentary will bring out comments like the stuff above, bashing you because you are not presenting a full representation of Dubstep, and forgetting largely the history of it.

what you can do instead is call it something else like a film about the current state of Dubstep in your area, and how it's bringing different people and culture, together, building on Dubstep's already near decade existence in club land. (it may be new to most people in america, but i hope you know its been out there for a while, evolving, so it's nowhere near new).

And to be fair, the zed's dead track he linked is not bad. truth be told, it's a 7/10 in my book. One can display that track as Dubstep because even if it was bro, it's still under the Dubstep umbrella. You can't point to digital mystikz every time you have to exemplify what dubstep is. If you want to get technical, you can say that's the classic model of dubstep, but pigeonholing it to just that strain of sound is wrong.

fair enough; guess why the dubstep 101 sticky is so handy.

Well, to be fair I only posted the MALA vid because it was the only video I've taken there that I have online :)

I personally have no problem with "brostep". It's still just called Dubstep to me. I like it just as much as any other style in the genre I've been exposed to. My only issue with it the vid so far is with the content (or lack thereof) and not with the subject matter....then again it's really just a teaser and there could be a lot more content that we don't know about :P

Honestly, I cringe when I hear Americans(even though I am) say the word "dubstep."
