Finding similar dubstep. Hints/tips/tricks and tracks please

Post by CountVonJimmy » Sun Oct 16, 2011 8:32 pm

I am really frothing over this track called 'Sail-AWOLnation (slim thugz remix)' it is definitely my favourite 'style' of dubstep. However, I struggle to find any dubstep like it. For alot of new listeners, like myself, it's hard to break down dubstep into defined genres and search for similar tracks. I guess I would describe other tracks like 'Eyes on fire - Zed's dead' and 'Joker- The Vision' as suiting my particular tastes. In the sense that they interlace vocals alongside the wicked dub drops we all love. If anybody could define what genre I'm listening to and recommend anything similar to the afore mentioned tracks it would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance, Jimmy.

I'd suggest checking out other tracks by the same artists, other remixes they may have done, other releases on record labels they are signed to, and then going from there.

Once you start doing some research on who released what on where and who remixed it and when and what else they've done, you're quickly find a spiders web building up of different artists/songs/labels to have a dig through.

Great advice Wub! Will do. I must insist to any other posters that I am looking for similar dubstep tracks to the one's i've talked about. Not Bob Marley doppelgangers. Please don't de-rail this thread as well Brasco :( ...

Listened to the track you mentioned. All I can think of is Joker, but you seem to be familiar with him already :/

I guess what were saying here is that were losers and we should all be smoking a spliff and listening to reggae. Dubstep is a force of experimentation right now. Theres more kids making it more then ever and theyve only heard some tracks.
...wanna collab? Im down for new sounds, send me a PM please.

King Tubby is a Bob Marley doppelganger?

Get the fuck off this forum. Now.

(Seriously, there's nothing here for you and you'll find that out very soon)

If that guy had ever seen Mark Ernestus, he would realise that he is possibly the complete opposite of a Bob Marley doppelganger.

ok I just re-read your original post and if you like Joker, just get as much Joker as possible. There may be hope for you yet...
