Couple of Questions (Massive related)

Post by Tiger Blood » Wed Oct 19, 2011 8:45 pm

Hey guys

So 2 questions kinds unrelated so couldnt pick a proper title.

First thing is with massive, when i load all my presets into the folder for them and scan in massive it picks them all up but seems to remove all the stock presets in massive. I wanted to keep them to try out different lead synths etc but it seems to delete them all and places mine in so just wanted to know what im doing wrong or how to have both?

Another question was with midi keyboards, whats the best to go for for a beginner? not absolutely massive as i dont have that much space but can probably go bigger than a pc keyboard. Not to expensive but not fall apart quality. any ideas?

Thanks for any help here guys!

I'm getting it for Christmas so idk.. But I've never been disappointed by M-Audio. Have been using their products since I started producing.

I have the fast track pro. About to buy the next series and give this one to my friend.

Getting the Oxygen 49, Studiophile Monitors, and some Shure headphones for Christmas. Then my birthday is like a week after and I'm getting Pro-Tools M9. Yay for free stuff.

The ones for $300-$400 on guitarcenter I believe. Something to start out on atleast.

I have a pair of M-audio Bx8a's They're no Adams but I love em just the same. I think they cost around 4-500 and are well worth the price. As far as midi controllers go, if you aren't looking to spend much, I would go on ebay and look at some used ones, that way you might be able to find a nicer one that will stand the test of time for cheaper.

Look for the ones from Akai, they have a really small one, the Akai LPK25 which works great for me.

A. You need to update your cracked copy of massive. Sorry, but I'll be blunt, illegal software is often riddled with bugs which show themselves in different ways in different systems. Google Massive VST problems and the second most common is not loading presets... all of them from old cracked copies.

B: Alesis Q25. (Most people will say oxygen as M-Audio created the portable keyboard market, but since the V3s came out, your paying £80 for what everyone else charges 50-60 for just because its the obvious name)

Try this: http://www.massivesynth.com/tutorials/b ... s-massive/

I like have 1 folder that contains sub folders - 1 for each bank i have and set them up in Massive as defaults.

File > Options > Browser

Then add your folders where your patches are there - then hit rebuild and they will all be added together.

You can browse by bank by hitting the Browser button top right of the synth.

No, its 4-500 for 2.

But after reading some reviews on M-Audios monitors, I might just buy a pair of KRKs like everybody else.

Don't believe the hype, go inafter the store and hear them for yourself. Monitors are like footwear, sure some are cool and in fashion, but ultimately the pair that fit you the best WILL be different frome everyone else on this forum as we all have different feet/ears.

I really like my MPK-25

it was a breeze to set up, and it has pads and knobs and was pretty cheap

The closest guitar center is like almost 2 hours away. Abslolutely no music stores around here other than cd shops and a country store but they only sell guitars, pianos, and amps. But next time I go see my Uncle, I'll stop there since its on the way to his place.
