Dubstep Question?

So yeah I've been doing some studying on "Mainstream Dubstep"

* Everyone is starting to all sound the same, using that "Skrillex" talking bassline.
I wont cut anyone short for their music productions, But I'm starting to hear that heavy Mid-range sounding skrillex bass too much
it's kinda getting tiresome, what I'd like to know is who was the first to produce such taste in bass
& why they fell off short of the soul meaning of Dubstep.



_Note that Skream was the first Dubstep artist I've ever listened to and heard of (Skream & Example - Shot Yourself In The Foot Again)

imo skrillex bass just sounds like noisia ripoffs with a bit more formant. always felt his sound was a bit "done before".

Skream started out as, you know, the main attraction of the whole scene, but his recent pop excursions have definitely left a lot of people feeling like he went mainstream. Whatever that means.

And yeah, Skrillex always sounded to me like he was using the same synths as Noisia and the guys from Rottun. Can't say he isn't a talented musician, but man does he need to try some new sounds out.

if shot yourself in the foot again was the first you heard of 'dubstep' then you have a lot of digging and exploring to do my friend before you even get close to the true meaning of the genre...

Shot Yourself In the Foot Again = Mainstream.

You need to look at Skream pre-2010 for his best productions imo. Still comes up with a few deeper tracks that are decent.

Regards to Skrillex, seems to me like he's never the originator. He jumped on the post-hardcore/emo/whatever band wagon when he was picked up by From First To Last, and now the electro-house/dubstep thing is blowing up, he's jumped on that to. Guy knows what to do to get them doubloons, but there are some people out there that don't know much about the scenes he's been involved in that give him too much credit.

I have... and the history of Dubstep seems to date back before 2000... I was surprised and to tell you the truth I Love classic Dubstep just as much as I Love todays Dubstep

Very true haha, I used to be one of those crazy skrillex fans, I'm still a "Fan" but ehhh I have much more respect for the Genre then to believe his music is the soul base of dubstep
