less time spent on people staring longingly into the distance please.
Are you 5 years old or have you just discovered that not all TV has a warm and cuddly voiceover explaining what's going on
big woops for picking apart the complex plot to discover she's poor, black, a single mother and depressed! its fucking obvious whats going on, its just doesnt pack any weight.

what baffles me about this is the complete lack of feds anywhere. not really an accurate portrayal in that respect..

I think it's pre-text for how her son will have to make adult decisions at a young age and unfortunately this familiar story has to be told over and over to the ignorant cushy TV viewers that think that people is such positions are living the life of riley at the expense of the UK tax payer as it gets played out in the media daily.

British dramas always being 3/4 parters doesnt help... can hardly explore characters in that much time.

Thats why the Wire had it locked because it showed the full spectrum of inner city urban life, over the how-ever-many hours it ran for.

I'll be honest, that has nothing to do with what is being talked about... I would expect this sort of thing from a BM post maybe...
Yes the sub plot about his mother has been a bit weak so far but it was something that was needed for the story as a whole. If the mother was just not there, then the kid would have probably made different decisions, and would probably have got involved with Shawn or whatever his name is.
That Lee guy bitching to his boss that he'd been beaten up was a bit much though, after what he did to the guys brother.

But the whole point of a sub-plot is that it doesn't overshadow the main plot. Are people really that simple that they don't see how the character of the mother and her lack of speech, action, and all the staring into space (that DanRev mentioned) makes the viewer question and form his or her
own meaning as to why she or they might be in that situation in the first place?
I guess the viewer has to have some of there own 'understanding' to bring to it in the first place though...
and surely Lee's bitching is there to show just that.. that he is a bitch, rather than a generic thug.

Thought tonights episode was good. All this stuff about being similar to the wire doesnt affect me cos I've never seen it...
It'll be interesting to see what they get away with!

Pretty grim episode. Was going to turn off when they killed the dog, hate that shit. Last one tomorrow. Be interesting to see how it turns out. Shane is the only one who seems to have any redeeming qualities. Couldn't care less for the rest of the gang.

They just did that to get him to talk, they shot him in the end.
I think it was his gang that came and stabbed the guy at the end.

Yeah it was the gang of the dude they shot and buried. (Same car).
That Lee dude was quite an accurate/convincing character I feel. I find that people on the street these days feel its fine to do whatever they want to whoever they want.....however as soon something gets done to them its all about retalliation and respect etc etc. Got what he deserved.
Do wonder how they found where his dog was those, as I dont think that girl would have told anybody, and they obvs didnt know where that place was as they'd have gone back there when they were trying to find him.
Also a person on FB stated that all the action etc was happenening over about 2-3weeks. Yet theyve pretty much got a crop of weed to harvest?!?
