Drum rolls
I've been noticing a lot recently songs that have drum rolls in them, sometimes they do it as a transition between parts, and sometimes they just do it as a transition between bars. Skrillex does it, as well as several pop artists. Does anybody have any idea how they do it? Like, is it simply a kick roll and they change the velocity so make it sound like tom's, or are they seperate samples? Drum loop?

Good sampling skills make it a lot easier...
I swear I've heard the intro to Jamming by Bob Marley in a dubstep track
See what I mean though? Saves so much effort, rather than fiddling with a sequencer to get some stiff-sounding machine noise
